Nesting Dolls Make a Colorful Holiday Display at Sully Historic Site

Sully Historic Site Nesting Dolls See an array of colorful and unique nesting dolls on display at Sully from mid-November through January 31.  Nesting dolls are a set of wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside the other.  They are usually considered a strictly Russian art form begun in 1890 when the first Russian dolls were carved and painted by folk artists in the Abramtsevo artist colony north of Moscow. Nesting dolls have a more international history, however, and Sully’s exhibit offers dolls, both new and old, from several different countries.

Add this exhibit to your holiday list of fun things to see.  The site is open daily, except Tuesdays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  A guided tour of the 1794 home of Northern Virginia’s first congressman, Richard Bland Lee, is included.  The cost is $7 for adults, $6 for students and $5 for seniors and children.  Please call 703-437-1794 for more information.

Sully Historic Site is located in Chantilly, VA, off Air & Space Museum Parkway East, ¼ mile north of Route 50 and four miles south of the Dulles Toll Road.
