Historic Holiday Celebrations Abound in the Parks

Bring the whole family out for holiday fun. Santa comes to visit at Colvin Run Mill Historic Site on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m. Visit with the one in red and see the Christmas tree trimmed in Victorian decorations. Join with the 49th Virginia Volunteer Infantry as they carol around a warming bonfire. You can roast marshmallows and make a craft as well. The cost is $5 per person. You can also celebrate the winter holidays with the Machen family at Walney Farm at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 8. Learn about the gifts and foods shared by the occupants of a 1850s farm. Create your own historic holiday ornament. Enjoy hot apple cider and baked treats. The cost is $6 per person.
