For additional information, schedule changes and more trips and tours not listed here, call the TOURS HOTLINE at 703-324-8687 (324-TOUR) for recorded information. Email us and automatically receive a larger-print list of upcoming tours. All trips and tours include transportation and trip escort. See trip description for details on meals, admissions, and optional activities.
Transportation: Transportation for most tours is by chartered motorcoach, equipped with reclining seats and restroom. Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time at your departure location. If registration is low, alternate transportation may be used. Call 703-222-4664 for tour reservations.
Alcohol: No kegs, open cans or glass containers are allowed inside the coach. No large coolers are allowed unless the cooler can be positioned on the back seat and the cooler does not take away a seat from any passenger. Any damage or spillage from a cooler can stain coach seat upholstry and can compromise the cleanliness and appearance of the bus.
Discounts: Early registration discounts apply only to tours first advertised in the current issue of Parktakes. Neither half-price fees for in-county senior adults nor scholarship policies apply to tours.
Persons with Disabilities: Persons with disabilities requiring ADA
accommodations must call 703-324-8563 at least 10 business days in
advance of the scheduled activity.
Cancellations: We reserve the right to cancel a tour due to low enrollment and/or other circumstances. If a tour is cancelled, all registrants will be notified, and all fees will be refunded to the member account. Tours will not be cancelled due to inclement weather unless you are notified by phone. Call 703-324-TOUR (8687) for emergency weather instructions.
Refund Policy: For one-day tours, refunds, credits or transfer will be allowed up to 14 days prior to the tour date. Cancellations/refund requests received 13 or fewer days prior to the tour date will not be granted because of deadlines from bus company and vendors. For trips requiring deposits, the deposit is nonrefundable. You can, however, substitute another person in your place.
The FCPA retains the right to decline, accept or retain any person as a member of a tour when such action is deemed to be in the best interest of the health, safety or general welfare of the tour group or the individual concerned.
Schedule times are approximate. Reasonable substitutions for some items included in the printed trip description may be necessary in certain cases. Refunds are not given for delays or changes in the itinerary due to weather, traffic, security delays, crowds, mechanical breakdown, or other factors beyond the Park Authority's control. FCPA is not liable for cost of tickets, meals or expenses due to schedule changes.

Confirmation & Itinerary: The week before a trip, you should receive an itinerary in the mail. If not, call the 24-hour recorded information hotline which includes departure and return times for upcoming trips at 703-324-TOUR (8687).
General Policies: Smoking, weapons, or open alcoholic beverages are not permitted on any Fairfax County-sponsored trips or tours. You may bring along snacks or other refreshments. We encourage you to carry your valuables with you at all times.
Bus Seating: We do not have reserved seating on trips. Participants may select seats on a first-come first-served basis. Usually two seats adjacent to the driver are reserved for the Trip Escort and a Tour Guide (if needed). We generally leave a few seats available on the bus for interpreters when needed, in the rare case of a defective seat, or for persons who may experience motion sickness. Our Trip Escorts will try to accommodate requests for special seating when possible.
Your Trip Escort: Fairfax County provides Trip Escorts on each trip to take care of scheduling, meals, seating arrangements, tickets and other details of the trip. Escorts are not professional tour guides, but often have helpful information about our destinations. Their primary role is to take care of you, our customer, throughout the trip. If you need special assistance or have a medical condition that may require attention during the trip, please speak with the Tour Escort.
Tips & Gratuities Policy: Bus Driver: If you feel that you have received exceptional service from the bus driver, we encourage you to show your appreciation by providing a modest tip (one dollar per person is appropriate) at your discretion. Near the end of the return trip, the tour escort will pass around an envelope labeled “Driver Tip” and all money received will go directly to today’s driver.
Trip Escorts & Guides: Trip Escorts are Fairfax County employees or volunteers and are not allowed to receive tips or gratuities. If a trip includes a professional tour guide at our destination, you are free to provide a gratuity directly to the guide if you wish, but it is not expected.
Evaluations: Please take a few minutes during the return trip to fill out our trip evaluation and return it to your Trip Escort. We use the information that you provide to help plan future trips.
