Providence – Aquatics

Fairfax County Park Authority RECenter pools have something for everybody! Our comprehensive programs promote safety, skill development, fitness, social interaction and fun.

Providence RECenter has a 25-meter heated indoor pool with wading area, springboard, outdoor sundeck, 2 spas, saunas, locker rooms, family changing room, and bleacher seating. There is a wheelchair ramp built in to the main pool.

Various user groups share pool space. Nationally ranked swimming teams rent space for practice and meets. FCPA and Fairfax County Public Schools share the commitment for hosting the high school swim and dive teams for practice and meets November through February.

The Park Authority strives to maintain a standard of at least three lap lanes available to the public whenever the pool is open. Please check the pool calendar for specific daily pool hours. The calendar will also indicate the rare instances that availability falls below the three lane standard.
Shallow (3 1/2 ft.) play space is available every day.

Now Hiring Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors

Providence RECenter is looking for lifeguards and swim instructors. This is great opportunity for part-time work after school, for stay at home moms, and for those looking for a little extra money. We can train you through the agency and free use of the RECenter is included. Pay: Lifeguards - $8 - $13, Instructors $17 - $21. If you have any questions, please call (703) 698-1351.

Giant Water Toy and Diving Board

On Saturdays the water toy is open from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. On Sundays the diving board is open from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Diving board and water toy availability are based on lifeguard availability. All participants must pass an ability test—swim the length of the pool (25 yards) in deep water. A lifeguard supervises this test. Flotation devices may not be used for the swim test or on the slide or diving board. See complete Pool Rules for more information.

Rent Our Gator! Let this large fun green gator crash your next party. On weekends between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., you can schedule private use of the Alligator Float for your party at Providence RECenter for 45 minute blocks. Cost is $45. We even throw in your own lifeguard to help keep that gator under control and to help insure private use. Please make your reservation by calling 703-698-1352. Add this to your next room rental package or just have by itself.

Our Lifeguards

Professionally trained lifeguards oversee all natatorium activities. We are proud to be associated with Ellis & Associates (E & A), an aquatic safety consulting firm that provides the National Pool and Waterpark Lifeguard Training Program (NPWLTP). Licensed lifeguards maintain high standards with constant training and practice.
