Our goal is to provide children with a safe and enjoyable camp experience where children can develop skills, form friendships and enhance self esteem.

Our staff: All our staff members are at least 18 years of age or older. Most are college students or teachers. All staff members are certified in first aid and CPR and have been through background checks, including police checks. All staff members attend an intensive training course before camp begins.

Staff to Camper Ratios: For school-age children, our camps maintain between 1:10 and 1:15 ratio. The state standards are 1:18 so FCPA provides more individualized attention with lower ratios. Preschool camps maintain a 1:10 ratio.

Refunds/Transfers for Camps and Workshops:

  • Cancellations and transfers may NOT be done through the automated telephone or internet registration systems. For operator assistance, call (703) 222-4664, TTY 703-803-3354.
  • If school's make-up days extend into the camp week, FCPA will automatically credit your member account for camp days missed.
  • There are no refunds for missed days due to changed work or vacation schedules, sick days, or other non-emergency reasons.
  • Up to 2 Weeks Prior to Camp
    • Refunds and transfers must be requested at least ten business days prior to the camp session for which the refund/transfer is being requested.
    • All but $25 will be returned for approved refunds for each camp session refunded.
  • Within 2 weeks of Camp Start Date
    • Refunds are not permitted for those who register within ten business days prior to the start of a camp session.
    • Transfers cannot be done within the ten business day period before the start of camp.
    • Within the ten business days of the start of camp, refunds will only be given for medical emergencies with doctor's written verification as long as the verification is received BEFORE the camp begins.
  • Once Camp Begins
    • If a medical emergency occurs during camp, a doctor's written verification will be needed within 24 hours for a pro-rated refund. Requests received after the camp session ends will not be granted.

Other Information:

  • Download Camp Forms
  • Check number of sessions, some camps are one week long, soem are two weeks.
  • School locations subject to change.
  • Camps must meet minimums to operate.
  • Non-County Resident Policy: Non-county residents are welcome to participate in camp programs for the price of the camp plus an additional $10. Please add this charge to the price listed in Parktakes and include the additional fee with your registration.
  • Some sessions repeat trips and activities.
  • Some RECeneter pools may be closed in August for maintenance. Check with RECenter for details.
  • Code Red Days: campers may still do outdoor activities in the early part of the day while taking in plenty of water and several shaded breaks.
  • FOR LICENSED CAMPS (RECenter and Park Camps): Some of our camp programs are licensed by the VA Department of Social Services, therefore require additional paperwork including an immunization record (copies are accepted). A physical form is required for those campers coming for more than two sessions (four weeks). In addition, Virginia law now requires proof of child's identity be shown upon arrival at camp on the first day. Proof of identity may be: a certified copy of a child's birth certificate, birth registration card, notification of birth record, a passport, copy of placement agreement, or a Virginia public school report card.
  • If you register on-line, a confirmation packet will NOT be mailed to you. Be sure to download the packet from our website. These packets contain important enrollment forms and program information.
  • If your child is enrolled in First Kicks, Mini-Soccer, or Player Development Soccer and you are interested in hosting a British coach to receive a scholarship towards our child's camp. Click here for forms and information.

Helpful Hints for Parents Sending Children to FCPA Camps:

  1. Make multiple copies of the camp forms once you complete them. You will need to turn in forms at each location for each session.
  2. Keep a copy of your child’s immunization record at home for your files.
  3. Be sure to put your name on the Pick-Up Authorization Form as an authorized individual even though you are the one completing the form.
  4. Label ALL of your child’s belongings, including child’s lunch which has to have child’s name and the date on it.
  5. Keep electronics at home.
  6. Dress your child in play clothes and sneakers every day. Not permitted: sandals, wheelie shoes, flip flops, clogs.
  7. For your child’s safety, do not drop off your child at the front door. Parents must sign children in and out of camp each day. An I.D. is required at pick up.

Extended Care:

Before and after camp care is available at several RECenter/Park locations. This service, designed for children 6 years and older, provides additional morning and afternoon care for campers of working parents, but is open to all children in full day camps. Campers stay in a safe environment and get to choose from these supervised activities which are provided during Extended Care: board games, cards, drawing/coloring, and age-appropriate movies.

Now you can pre-register (just like camps) for Extended Care on-line, by phone at (703) 222-4664, TTY 703-803-3354, or in-person at our RECenters and parks. The early incentive discount does not apply to Extended Care.

Flexible Packages: No more punch passes! Packages are offered weekly - be sure to register for both weeks if your child's camp is a two week session and you need both weeks of care. Morning sessions allow you to choose between one and two hour options. There is also a daily, per session, drop-in rate for those who need last minute care.

Refunds/Transfers: Extended Care refunds are given in full if requests are made at least ten working days in advance. There are NO refunds given within ten days or once camp begins. Transfer requests, including transfers from one site to another, will be granted up until that specific camp session begins for which the transfer is being requested.
