PLEASE NOTE: This is an update for Wednesday, February 10. Since the Fairfax County Park Authority follows the opening and closing decisions of the Fairfax County Public Schools, Park Authority events, scheduled classes and group fitness (XYO) drop-in classes held at RECenters or other FCPA facilities are cancelled for Wednesday, February 10. Park Authority classes held at school locations, senior centers or community centers are cancelled. Preschool programs at Lee District and Spring Hill will not operate.

RECenters will maintain normal business hours.

Cub Run RECenter is a 65,000 square foot facility that includes a 4,860 square foot leisure entertainment pool featuring two water slides and a water playground, a 25-yard by 25-meter swimming pool, a 9,600 square foot fitness center and two multipurpose rooms - one a 3,000 square foot room that can be divided in half, the other a 1,700 square foot room, and a 270 square foot party room.

The natatorium leisure pool includes a 30-foot-high slide that exits the building in an enclosed tube, a 20-foot-high slide with an open tube, a spa, a vortex, a current channel, an open shallow water area and a water playground with interactive play features, a tiny-tot slide and a zero depth entry. The 25-yard by 25-meter competition pool includes a state-of-the-art Poseidon drowning detection system, two 1-meter diving boards and a seating capacity of 175.

Fitness Room's Cardio Equipment

The fitness center offers FreeMotion strength training equipment, Cybex strength training pieces, a FitLinxx computerized network system, ProPartner software compatible with Palm OS handheld, and BroadcastVision, a wireless entertainment system. Group fitness classes include: GRAVITYGroup, BOSU, and Cycle Spin. Over 45 pieces of cardio equipment, free weights and a stretching area are also located in the Fitness Center. The XYO (Exercise Your Options) program features classes such as Cardio Kick, Jump and Pump, and Step are free with a pass or daily admission.

Cub Run is the first RECenter to feature a Nature program with a resident naturalist. Classes and programs take advantage of the nearby Sully Woodlands and 1,400 foot nature trail with the naturalist as a guide. Children's classes, family programs, summer nature camps, scout badges, school field trips and in-depth nature study for adults are also available.

Multi-purpose Room

The multi-purpose rooms holds classes in fitness and recreation such as dance, arts and crafts, sports, martial arts, drama and photography. Both nature and birthday parties are available for booking in the party room.
