PLEASE NOTE: This is an update for Wednesday, February 10. Since the Fairfax County Park Authority follows the opening and closing decisions of the Fairfax County Public Schools, Park Authority events, scheduled classes and group fitness (XYO) drop-in classes held at RECenters or other FCPA facilities are cancelled for Wednesday, February 10. Park Authority classes held at school locations, senior centers or community centers are cancelled. Preschool programs at Lee District and Spring Hill will not operate. RECenters will maintain normal business hours. Due to the inclement weather, the Fairfax County Park Authority Board meeting slated for Wednesday, February 10, 2010 has been canceled. The meeting has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. The Board meets in suite 941 at the Herrity Building. The February 10, 2010, 5 p.m. meeting of the Park Authority Planning and Development Committee and the 6 p.m. meeting of the Park Authority Administration, Management and Budget Committee have both been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Learn More RECenters Fairfax County Park Authority's nine recreation and fitness centers serve over one million customers annually, offering the latest exercise equipment, the metro area's top aquatics facilities and classes that cover the leisure alphabet from Aerobics to Zoom Photography. RECenters are places where anyone can be comfortable improving their fitness level, whatever level it is. Friends and family can play together in the water or on the courts. All RECenters have classes and camps for children and some have pre-school programs for our littlest customers. RECenters are conveniently located. They start early, close late, and are open seven days a week. We offer membership pass options for seniors, students, couples and families at 9 RECenters county-wide. Members enjoy fitness rooms (including FitLinxx), pools during open swim times, basketball, racquetball, squash, and wallyball courts and group fitness classes. Or visit Passes Online to sign up and purchase a pass via the web. There is an admission charge to all RECenters. Proof of Fairfax County residency entitles visitors to a discounted admission rate. All racquetball court use requires advanced reservations and can be made by calling the individual recreation center. An additional hourly court charge is required for racquetball depending upon the day and time of play. PLEASE NOTE: The recent events in Virginia and nation wide have raised public awareness of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections.
