We've come up with a list of birds that we're very interested in. These birds are indicator species - or the presence of each bird can tell us something about what is going on in the environment. Help us keep track of each of the 16 Birds on our list by completing our online form below. To learn more about birds and their habitats, try some of the Wildlife websites found in Green Links.

Birds on the list:

  • Red-shouldered Hawk
  • Pileated Woodpecker
  • Acadian Flycatcher
  • White-eyed Vireo
  • Brown Creeper
  • Winter Wren
  • Wood Thrush
  • Pine Warbler
  • Ovenbird
  • Louisiana Waterthrush
  • Kentucky Warbler
  • Scarlet Tanager
  • Field Sparrow
  • Song Sparrow
  • White-throated Sparrow
  • Brown-headed Cowbird

To report sightings of any of these species in a Fairfax County park, submit the Species Sighting Report below. Please submit a separate report for each bird sighted.
