NEW! Venturing Programs at Riverbend Park
Venturing Crews (13 and older) can now earn components
of their Outdoor Bronze Award. Venturers
can complete the Wilderness Survival, Leave No
Trace, Cooking and Conservation core requirements
as well as the Fishing and Plants and Wildlife
electives. Some components can be completed
collectively, others require a whole session to complete.

Boy Scout Klondike Campout
4pm Sat. to 9am Sun
(11-17 yrs.) Riverbend Park Visitor Center. Camping
in winter is cool! Learn about techniques for camping
in below-freezing conditions. Make a fire and
help prepare a meal to sample using a dutch oven.
Roast hotdogs and then spend the night in your
comfy sleeping bag. Bring cold-weather sleepingbag,
tent, flashlight, toasting sticks, warm clothes.
Dinner, beverages and light breakfast provided.
Program canceled in adverse weather. Scouts must
be accompanied by registered adults. $30/person.

Girl Scout Astronomy Festival
Riverbend park visitors center, 703-759-9018. View
outer space through a telescope, listen to ancient
stories about the constellations ‘round the campfire,
take a guided tour of the night sky and participate
in hands-on activities. Juniors complete badge
requirements for the Sky Search badge. Teen scout
volunteers welcome. Reservations and advanced
payment required.
$7.50/scout and siblings, $4/adults.
