6 Saturday
Making Light at Sully, 1-3pm

Learn about making candles and why fire was so important to the Lee family and the enslaved African Americans at Sully 200 years ago. Dip your own candle to take home. Stay warm by the fire and enjoy cider and cookies. Tour available at a separate cost. Reservations required. $4

13 Saturday
Weaving Through the Winter, 1-3pm

Wool was sheared from sheep, spun into yarn and woven into cloth to keep the family warm. During this program you will card wool and weave a bracelet to take home. Tour available at a separate cost. Reservations suggested. $3

20 Saturday
Two Rooms - One Up, One Down, 1-3pm

Visit the slave cabin to discover cooking methods used by the African American slave community at Sully and take a peek into the loft which is normally closed to the public. Canceled if inclement weather. $6/adult, $5/student, $4/senior and child, includes a tour of the main house with a combination ticket for an additional $2

21 Sunday
American Games at Sully, 11-4pm

Play 18th and 19th century games at Sully. Checkers, nine pins and bean bag toss will be set up for you to try. House tours $6/adults and $4/child or senior. Make a historic toy $2, while supplies last.

March

6 Saturday
Broom Making, 1-4pm

Visit the slave quarter and make a broom to take home. Having been used for thousands of years, tradition says when you move out of the house, you leave the broom to welcome the next family. But don’t leave your broom at Sully - bring it back on March 21 for Spring Cleaning! Prepaid Reservations Required. $10/broom

13 Saturday
Sully Storytime, 10-11am

Stories for preschoolers, 3-5 years, plus hands-on crafts are likely to create budding historians in your household. $3. Tour available at separate cost.

20 Saturday
Easter Egg Hunt, 1-3pm

Children, 3-7 years, bring your baskets and hunt for filled Easter eggs in Sully’s fields. Find the special egg and claim your prize. Participate in an egg roll as children may have done at the Capitol when James Madison was president. Create an Easter craft to take home and enjoy yummy treats. Eggs provided at the site. Egg hunts at 1:30 and 2:30pm. Reservations required. Rain date 3/27. $5/child

21 Sunday
Get Ready for Spring! 1-4pm

Don’t have time for your own spring cleaning? Help us as we do our early 19th century version. Buffing, polishing, washing, sweeping - the house is a bustle with an endless tasks. Take home a historical reminder in your spring cleaning. House tour included. $6/adult; $5/student; $4/senior & child, $2 extra per craft.

27 Saturday
Squirreling Around on a Spring Day, 11am-12:30pm

In the early 1800s the Lee’s had a pet white squirrel. Children can find squirrels through the house, and make a white squirrel to take home. Reservations required. $5

29 Monday
Scout Day, 11am-4pm

Outdoor stations will fill the grounds as scouts earn badges or achieve electives for Tiger, Bear, Wolf and Boy Scouts, Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Cadets. For a list of badges for your group please call. Rain date 3/30. Reservations required. $15, Sully patch available for $4

Monday, March 29 - Friday, April 2
Do My Eyes Deceive Me? 11am - 4pm

During Spring Break Week, Sully tours take a new twist. Use your sleuthing skills to guess the items on the “what’s it” table and, as you take a tour, spot the modern objects not normally found in the Lee house and outbuildings. Did you find everything? If so, stop by the store for a sweet candy stick! $6/adult, $5/student, $4/senior & child

American Life History Camp
31 Wednesday – April 2 Friday, 10-1pm

Children 7-12 years see how life in America has changed. Discover the different lifestyles of the Lee family and the enslaved African Americans. Both lived without many conveniences including electricity. Explore how textiles were woven and dyed. Cook in our 18th century kitchen and slave quarter. Run off your energy playing outdoor games. Bring a bag lunch. Lemonade and dessert provided. Registration by 3/15. $25/day or $70/three days
