Volunteer at Cub Run RECenter

Our volunteers tell us that volunteering at Cub Run RECenter is a rewarding experience. Volunteers not only help our community but they also earn FREE membership at the RECenter where they volunteer. Volunteers can forge friendships and meet customers and co-workers who share their interests. They learn more about all the wonderful parks and facilities that Fairfax County has to offer. We hope you will decide to join us; we are looking forward to working with you.

Cathy Ruiz
Cub Run RECenter’s
2013 Outstanding Volunteer
of the Year

Cathy Ruiz has been with Cub Run RECenter for two years. Some of her areas of expertise include; soliciting donations, working with sponsors, assisting at events and community outreach. Cathy continues to explore ways to create maximum participation at site events.

Her willingness to pitch in and help where needed and her zest for volunteering is contagious. Some highlights of 2012 include; turning the annual holiday volunteer party into something very spectacular. She bought in her own decorations to make sure everything looked festive for the other volunteers, which was quite a selfless act. Even Santa stopped by for photos with each volunteer. With the arrival of spring, came our annual Earth Day event which was the most successful in the last six years. Securing the help of over 150 volunteers that spruced up the grounds of the RECenter in just a few hours. Cathy worked at the event and coordinated the volunteer activities. The volunteers were thrilled with the raffle and refreshment items that she was able to obtain from local vendors.

An outstanding award for a special volunteer!
