VOLUNTEER AT CUB RUN RECenter
Our volunteers tell us that volunteering at Cub Run RECenter is a
rewarding experience. Volunteers not only help our community but they
also earn FREE membership at the RECenter where they volunteer.
Volunteers can forge friendships and meet customers and co-workers who
share their interests. They learn more about all the wonderful parks
and facilities that Fairfax County has to offer. We hope you will
decide to join us; we are looking forward to working with you.

Cub Run RECenter's
2015 Outstanding Volunteer
of the Year
Picture this; it is Saturday or Sunday at Cub Run RECenter. The 65,000 foot facility has a leisure entertainment pool with two slides and a lazy river full of kids and their parents; a competition pool with diving area that may have a swim meet or lessons going on; a large fitness center with 50 or more patrons sweating through their workouts; classes are being held throughout the day in the multi-purpose rooms; and Cub Run is the go-to place for birthday parties in Chantilly on the weekends. To some this can seem chaotic, but this is the time when Front Desk Volunteer Richard Duong shines.
This young man has been greeting, checking in and answering questions on the weekends at the front desk at Cub Run RECenter for the past 15 months donating over 230 hours of his personal time.
Sometimes it is the small things that drive customer satisfaction. Richard answers the phone on the first ring. He is always standing to greet customers and greets every customer with a smile. To show how important each customer is, Richard prides himself on knowing and greeting each one's by their name. If they are a new customer he ensures he knows their name before his shift is over and greets them the next time they arrive.
Whenever the Cub Run RECenter team has a need, challenge or an issue, Richard is always there ready and willing to take on the task until the job is done. For his outstanding attitude, organizational skills, work ethic and customer service, Richard Duong is the Cub Run RECenter Outstanding Volunteer of the Year!
