The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will honor 718 Office of Partnerships' volunteers and 150 community and business partners at a special awards ceremony and lunch at noon on Friday, April 27, 2007 in the atrium at the Fairfax County Government Center located at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax.

The Office of Partnerships brings together representatives and resources from all sectors of the community to address the many challenges faced by low-income families living in Fairfax County.  The volunteers being honored have dedicated time and resources to the following partnerships:

• Adopt A Family (mataches businesses with low income famlies to provide holiday gifts).
• Adult Health & Dental Care (medical and dental care for adults)
• Allied Health and Nursing (mentoring and case management for low-income students at Northern Virginia Community College.
• Computer Learning Centers Partnership (CLCP) (after school technology instruction for low income K-12 students)
• Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope (CASH) (financial education and tax preparation)
• Medical Care for Children Partnership (comprehensive care for children who don't qualify for other programs)
• Project Discovery (mentoring for high school students who are the first in their families to attend college.

"Volunteers power our partnerships," says Emily Bryant, Executive Director of the Office of Partnerships, "we could not make a difference in the lives of thousands of Fairfax County families without them."
