Commissioner Janet R. Hall-Planning Commission
Commissioner Janet R. Hall - Mason District
Serving her
fourth consecutive Commission term, Janet R. Hall was first appointed by
the Board of Supervisors to represent the Mason District on the Planning
Commission in 1995 upon motion by then Supervisor Tina Trapnell. She has
been reappointed three times by the Board of Supervisors following
motions by Supervisor Penny Gross to serve additional consecutive
four-year terms. Her current term will expire in December 2010.
Currently, Commissioner Hall chairs the Planning Commission's Policy and Procedures Committee and serves as a member of the Planning Commission Seminar Committee. In previous years, she has also chaired the Parks Committee and the Personnel and Budget Committee and served as an active member of the following Planning Commission committees: 456/2232 Procedures, Revitalization, Infill and Residential Development, Redevelopment and Housing, and Mini-Marts. Commissioner Hall also served as the Commission's representative on the Airports Advisory Committee from March 2000 until January 2001.
Prior to her appointment to the Planning Commission, she was an active member of her community, having been a Board Member of the Parent Teacher Association of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, Ellen Glasgow Middle School, and J.E.B. Stuart High School. She had also been appointed to the Bailey's Crossroads Advisory Committee and was a member of the Planning, Land Use and Transportation Advisory Committee for the Mason District.
Commissioner Hall has been a Virginia Certified Planning Commissioner since 1999, having completed course requirements established by the Virginia Citizens Planning Association, in conjunction with Virginia Tech.
Commissioner Hall is chief of the contracts and procurement staff at the Executive Office for Immigration Review. She resides with her husband in the Lake Barcroft area of the Mason District.
