Cub Run RECenter
The Board recognized Cub Run RECenter staff Boris Arevalo, Stephanie Smith and Ken Vu for their swift action to save the life of a 5-year-old. -
Margaret and Paul Andino
The Board recognized Margaret and Paul Andino for 21 years of service assisting residents as the Braddock District Water Authority appointees. -
Maria Hayden
The Board recognized Maria Hayden, a senior at Herndon High School, for her achievements in gymnastics and winning the Virginia All-Around title in 2010. -
Robinson Secondary School Girls Swim and Dive Team
The Board recognized the Robinson Secondary School Girls Swim and Dive Team for winning the 2010 Virginia AAA State Swim and Dive Championship — its second consecutive state title. -
Sophie Chase
The Board recognized Lake Braddock Secondary School freshman Sophie Chase for winning the 2010 Virginia AAA Northern Region Indoor Track and Field Championships for the girls 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs. -
Springfield Days June 3-6
The Board designated June 3-6 as Springfield Days in Fairfax County. This year is the 22nd annual Springfield Days celebration where residents, service groups and businesses of the greater Springfield area come together to foster pride in the community. -
Community Health Care Network
The Board recognized the Community Health Care Network (CHCN) program of the Fairfax County Health Department for its 20th anniversary. The CHCN provides continuous and affordable primary health care to low-income, uninsured county residents of all ages, as well as specialty medical services through a network of volunteer health care providers.

The Volunteer Fire
Commission presented its annual report.

The Board adopted the principles recommended by the Consumer Protection
Commission for water systems serving Fairfax County.

The Board authorized a Fall 2010 Transportation Bond Referendum; these
bond funds, if approved, would be used to pay for the County’s share of
the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) capital
program or other transportation improvements.

The Board appointed Jeff Blackford as director of the new Department of
Code Compliance.

The Board approved the rezoning for Comstock Reston Station
Holdings to permit transit-oriented mixed use development near the
Wiehle Avenue Metro Station in partnership with the County.
