The Board made the following presentations and recognized:

The members and staff support of the 2011 Advisory Citizen
Reapportionment Committee.

James Percoco, a teacher at West Springfield High School, for his
induction into the National Teachers Hall of Fame.

Mary Stevens for her years of service to Fairfax County, most recently
as the deputy director of the Department of Housing and
Community Development.

Tom Schafer for his years of service at St. Bernadette Roman Catholic
Church in Springfield.
-
July as Refugee Recognition and Awareness Month in Fairfax
County.
The Board authorized the McLean Community Center to permit the Specially
Adopted Resource Clubs to use the Teen Center located at the Old Fire
Station in McLean.
The Board authorized a public hearing regarding the proposed conveyance
of 25 parcels comprising a total of approximately 315.6347 acres of
Board-owned property to the Fairfax County Park Authority. If the
transfer is approved, approximately 9.2% percent of the County’s land
mass will be held by the Park Authority; the Board’s goal is to set aside
10 percent of the County’s land mass as Park Authority parkland.
The Board approved the 2011 Zoning Ordinance Amendment Work Program as
recommended by the Board’s Development Process Committee.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to fair housing, and accepted the
Local Plan as an addendum to the Fairfax County Five-Year Consolidated
Plan for FY 2011-2015 which had been approved by the Board on May 11,
2010.
The Board approved the FY 2013 and FY 2014 Funding Priorities for the
Consolidated Community Funding Pool.
The Board authorized staff to terminate the agreement between the Town
of Herndon and Fairfax County, dated July 23, 1998, to share space and
provide services to mutual residents at the Herndon Neighborhood Resource
Center (HNRC), a small community-based center serving the Herndon area.
Upon termination of the agreement, the Town will no longer share the
space with the County or provide services. As part of the FY 2012 Adopted
Budget Plan, the County will assume full operational and financial
responsibility for the HNRC. The Board received the June 2011 Quarterly
Report of the Office of Financial and Program Audit.
After a presentation by Peter M. Rogoff, administrator of the Federal
Transit Administration, the Board discussed the Metrorail Phase 2
project.
