To make it faster and easier to get a building permit, homeowners and
contractors may now apply online through FIDO, the Fairfax Inspections Database Online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/fido. If you can’t or don’t want
to spend time waiting in line, FIDO can help, and the county will be able
to issue more permits — and issue them more quickly. On the FIDO Web
page, simply click on "Apply for a Permit” for a household appliance
permit, residential electrical or plumbing permit or a finished basement
building permit. Payment is accepted using major credit cards and
e-checks. For questions or problems, call 703-222-0801.
