The Fairfax County Public Library Summer Reading Program continues encouraging children and teens to read for pleasure during summer vacation. Tune in to Channel 16 for live gavel-to-gavel coverage, including presentations and public hearings, of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meetings, which are also closed captioned. To make it faster and easier to get a building permit, homeowners and contractors may now apply online through FIDO, the Fairfax Inspections Database Online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/fido. If you can’t or don’t want to spend time waiting in line, FIDO can help, and the county will be able to issue more permits — and issue them more quickly. On the FIDO Web page, simply click on "Apply for a Permit” for a household appliance permit, residential electrical or plumbing permit or a finished basement building permit.
