The Board made a presentation to Fairfax County employers selected as
“Best Workplaces for
Commuters.”
- The Board made presentations to community groups and individuals.
The Board recognized:

the student volunteers and representatives of Emmanuel Lutheran,
Fairfax Presbyterian and Vienna Presbyterian faith organizations for
their efforts to raise awareness of homelessness through the Fast
Shacks program.

Captain Patrick Horan and his family for his service to the country and
the Rebuilding Together and Sears Heroes at Home programs.

Carl Sivertsen for his years of service to Fairfax County.
The Board designated:

Dec. 14, 2012, as Jeans Day
in Fairfax County.

The Board adopted the
2013 legislative program.
-
The Board appointed representatives to the Bi-Partisan Election Process
Improvement Commission, which was created by the Board after long lines
were reported across various voting precincts during the most recent
election.

The Board approved the installation of “$200 Additional Fine for
Speeding” signs on Franklin Farms Road from Centreville Road to West Ox
Road in the Sully District.

The Board approved an 18.8 percent reduction or 117 fewer parking
spaces in required parking for the residential uses proposed by
MidAtlantic Realty Partners, LLC, for its development in the Mount
Vernon District.

The Board approved the sale of general obligation public improvement
bonds that will generate $249.23 million to fund construction of
capital facilities and infrastructure as previously approved by the
Board.

The Board authorized a public sale for roll-over of a bond anticipation
note to refinance a previous note issued to finance the acquisition of
the Crescent Apartments complex, a 16.5 acre site with 180 units
located in Reston.

The Board endorsed the proposed FY 2014 Virginia Railway Express (VRE)
budget; the VRE Operations Board will consider adoption of the FY 2014
VRE budget on December 21, 2012.
- The Board held a public hearing on the proposed creation of a Tysons Transportation Service District and Advisory Board, and deferred a decision until the next meeting of the Board, which will be held on January 8, 2013. The Board also deferred action on authorizing two new transportation funds for Tysons.
