Leadership Fairfax presented the “2012 Katherine K. Hanley Public
Service Award“ to Anthony H. Griffin, Fairfax County Executive.
- The Board participated in the annual statewide tornado drill, a joint effort of the National Weather Service and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. Fairfax County departments and agencies, along with businesses, schools and individual residents, registered to take part in this statewide drill as a way to test shelter-in-place locations and verify plans and procedures. Today’s tornado drill occurred on day two of Fairfax County’s three-day emergency exercise “Operation Enduring Collaboration,” which is exercising county agencies on a tornado scenario. David McKernan, the Fairfax County emergency management coordinator, updated the Board on the exercise.

Dr. and Mrs. Alan Merten for their contributions to Fairfax
County.
- The Fairfax County Master Gardeners Association for its 35th anniversary.

March as Alternative Dispute Resolution Month in Fairfax
County.

April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in
Fairfax County.

April as Donate Life Month in Fairfax County.

April 2-8 as Public Health Week in Fairfax County.

April as Fair
Housing Month in Fairfax County.
- April 8-14 as Public Safety Telecommunications Week in Fairfax County.

March as Alternative Dispute Resolution Month in Fairfax
County.

The Board authorized the sale of Fairfax County Economic Development
Authority Facilities Revenue Bonds to fund the Woodburn Replacement
Center Project (Mid-County Center) and the Providence Community Center
Project.

The Board authorized the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing
Authority to utilize federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
and HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds as a loan to Pathway
Homes, Inc. for the acquisition of housing units to serve
income-eligible persons with multiple disabilities.

The Board held a public hearing on Fairfax County’s participation in
Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail
Project and then deferred action on the decision until the next
Board meeting on April 10, 2012.
