Board of Supervisors meeting on December 3, 2013.
The Board made presentations to
community groups and individuals.
The Board recognized:
The Westfield High School marching band for being invited to
participate in the Rose Bowl Parade.
The Westbriar Elementary School for being named a National Blue Ribbon
School by the U.S. Department of Education.
The Chantilly High School golf team for winning the state championship
and Juhee Bea and Mike Sciorra for winning individual state
Fairfax County Circuit Court Clerk John
Frey for receiving an Open Government Award from the Virginia Coalition
for Open Government.
David Lavery for receiving the 2013 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America
Medal in the science and environment category as the team leader of the
Curiosity rover mission to Mars.
John White for his community outreach.
Fairfax County Government Channel 16 for winning
the Alliance for Community Media 2013 Hometown Video Award for Overall
Excellence in Government Access.
The Fairfax County Department of
Transportation presented awards to Fairfax County employers that
are the best workplaces for commuters.
The Board adopted the 2014 Legislative Program.
The Board authorized the advertisement of public hearings on a proposed
zoning ordinance amendment concerning home child care facilities and
child care centers for occasional care.
The Board reinstated funding for the employee Outstanding Performance,
Team and Managerial Awards Program and voted to implement an incentive
reinvestment initiative for employee development.
The Board approved a memorandum of agreement with the Sheriff
concerning personnel administration and grievance procedure.
The Board approved a letter to the Virginia Department of Rail and
Public Transportation regarding the report on capital assistance
allocation methodology for transit funding.
The Board approved authorization of the sale of general obligation
public improvement bonds and public improvement refunding bonds.
The Board was presented with theFiscal Year 2013 Comprehensive Annual
Financial Report (CAFR).
The Board appointed
Christopher Pietsch as director of the Department of Finance.
Pietsch will begin his new position Monday, Dec. 30.
- The Board adopted amendments to the County Code regarding excessive noise. The new Code language addresses loud party complaints from residents, among other sources of excessive sound, that may adversely impact the quality of life of residents and allows the Police Department to effectively respond to calls for service regarding excessive sound or sound generation in residential dwelling areas.
