The Board made presentations to community groups and individuals.


The Board designated:

  • Dec. 1 as HIV/AIDS Awareness Day in Fairfax County.

The Board recognized:

  • The Fairfax County Auxiliary Police Officer program for its 30th anniversary.

  • Greenspring for its 15th anniversary.

  • The Fairfax County Park Authority for receiving reaccreditation by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).

  • Eddie Garretson for his service to Fairfax County.

  • The Virginia High School League for its 100th anniversary.

  • The Environmental Quality Advisory Council (EQAC) presented its 2013 Annual Report on the Environment.

  • The Library Board of Trustees presented two reports to the Board.

  • The Board authorized the advertisement of a public hearing on an amendment to the County Code concerning the disposal of property seized by Police.

  • The Board authorized the advertisement of a public hearing on an amendment to the County Code to add an article on excessive sound generation in residential areas and dwellings.

  • The Board approved the State Litter Prevention and Recycling Grant Funding Transfer to Clean Fairfax Council, Incorporated.

  • The Board approved comments on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Regional Transportation Priorities Plan for the National Capital Region

  • The Board authorized the execution of an agreement with the Virginia Department of Transportation for the installation and maintenance of “Watch for Children” signs as part of the Residential Traffic Administration Program.

  • The Board confirmed the appointment of Kirk W. Kincannon as director of the Park Authority. Today’s action confirmed the Park Authority Board’s selection made earlier this month. Kincannon will begin in his new position on Jan. 27, 2014.

  • The Board appointed Jessica Tucker as Acting Auditor of the Board in the Office of Financial and Program Audit.
