The Board made presentations to community groups and individuals.

The Board designated:

  • November as American Indian Heritage Month in Fairfax County.

  • October 26 as VolunteerFest Day in Fairfax County.

The Board recognized:

  • The Fairfax County Police Motor Squad for winning first place at the Harley Davidson 110th Anniversary Skills Competition held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

  • The International Association of Firefighters Local 2068 for its success during the 2013 Fill the Boot Campaign.

  • Barbara Lippa for her years of service to Fairfax County.

  • Carol Ann Coryell for her years of service to Fairfax County.

  • The Transportation Advisory Commission presented its 2012 Transportation Achievement Award to Ken Moreland. The award recognizes outstanding performance by a Fairfax County employee.

  • The Board authorized the advertisement of a public hearing to adopt an ordinance to adjust the boundary line of Fairfax County with the City of Falls Church to annex and incorporate 13 parcels and other land into the City of Falls Church and to adopt a voluntary boundary adjustment agreement.

  • The Board approved reduced introductory rates for the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail Station “Bike and Ride” Bike Room.

  • The Board approved a license agreement between Fairfax County and MVH Partners LP related to the operation of bus service at the Mount Vernon House on Cedar Lane Court.
