How You Can Help

     The animal shelter is always in need of donations. You can help the animals by donating various items to the shelter, making monetary donations or simply donating your time as an Animal Shelter Volunteer. All donations are welcome and most are tax deductable (Check with your financial advisor).

As of June 30, 2006: The Animal Shelter is in desperate need of towels. Towels can be dropped off at the Animal Shelter seven days a week. Thank you!

  • Towels or small blankets
  • Newspaper
  • Treats
  • Toys, leashes, collars, dishes, crates, cages
  • Small animal supplies (rabbit, bird, guinea pig, hamster cages, & foods)
  • Flea medications such as Frontline or Interceptor
  • Round fleece cat beds
  • Carefresh litter for rabbits
  • Timothy hay
  • Rabbit food
  • Paper towels
  • New batteries (AA, AAA)
  • Books on animal care and training
  • Detergent
  • Fabric softener
  • Latex gloves
  • Shelter food: Nutro (canned and dry)
  • Airline miles

     If you would like more information on donating to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, Please call (703) 830-1100 on Tuesday through Friday from 8:00am until 6:00pm. or Saturdays from 8:00am until 5:00pm.
