ANNOUNCEMENTS

Shelter Celebrates Meow-loween

All are invited and encouraged to come to the Shelter anytime during the weekend of October 25-27 for fun times with the staff, volunteers and animals. All adoption fees on dogs and cats over age three will be waived on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There will be games, prizes and spooky, hands-on fun for families. Guinea pig and rabbit petting stations, a haunted cat condo decorating contest and trick-or-treat for shelter pets.

 

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

DIRECTED PATROL, 10/22/13. Officers from the Sully District Station patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. Twenty-nine summonses were issued.

BURGLARY, 13000 block of Poplar Tree Road, 10/22/13. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 2000 block of Arlington Drive, 10/22/13. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property.

2300 block of Huntington Avenue, beer from business

8800 block of Pear Tree Village Court, cell phone from vehicle

6300 block of Richmond Highway, merchandise from business

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

8200 block of Crestwood Heights Drive, bicycle from residence

2900 block of LaBella Walk, scooter from residence

2700 block of MerriLee Drive, bicycle from residence

2900 block of Pine Spring Road, medication from vehicle

 

MASON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 3000 block of Longstreet Court, 10/22/13. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property.

LARCENIES:

6200 block of Little River Turnpike, liquor from business

4400 block of Roberts Avenue, purse from vehicle

 

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

10500 block of Dunn Meadow Road, stereo from vehicle

 

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

6100 block of Rose Hill Drive, purse from vehicle

 

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

PURSUIT, Braddock Road/Burke Station Road/Gainsborough Drive, 10/23/13, 8:38 a.m. A police officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Ford Focus at the intersection of Braddock Road and Guinea Road. The driver fled and the officer pursued. While on Burke Station Road, the driver struck a mailbox. The officer stopped the vehicle in the 4700 block of Gainsborough Drive. A 10-year-old child, who was in the vehicle, was not injured. Maria Cruz de Alvarez, 38, was charged with speed to elude, driving with no license, child endangerment and hit and run.
