There will be a child safety seat check at the Sully Police District Station on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 5 – 8:30 p.m. This free service is on a first come, first serve basis as only the first thirty five vehicles will be inspected so we can ensure proper training.

There will be a child safety seat check at the McLean Police District Station on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. until noon.  Due to station construction, the check will be held at the Lewinsville Center, located at 1609 Great Falls Street.

HOMICIDE/UPDATE, 5/21/14.  Police identified and arrested Sebastian Velasco Santiago, 20, of 14487 Golden Oak Road, Centreville on Wednesday, May 21. Santiago was charged with murder of Domingo Eduardo Santiago Cuchil and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
UPDATE: Arrest in Centreville Homicide

FATAL CRASH, 5/20/14.  A 71-year-old woman visiting family in the Centreville area was struck and killed as she crossed Lee Highway near Trinity Parkway on Tuesday, May 20. Benfeng Liu was crossing the northbound lanes when she was struck by a 2012 Hyundai at around 9:30 p.m. She was then struck by a second vehicle, a 1999 Volvo that was unable to stop in time. Both drivers stopped and waited for police to arrive.

The crash remains under investigation by Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives. There have been no charges placed at this time.

BURGLARY, 7800 block of Richmond Highway, 5/21/14. An employee reported someone entered the business and took property.

ROBBERY ATTEMPT, Dover Lane/Lee Highway, 5/20/14, 6:39 p.m. A man was walking when he was approached by three suspects in a car. The suspect driver displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The victim fled before giving anything to the suspects. There were no injuries. The suspects were described as Hispanic males, 18-25, in a dark colored four-door sedan.

ROBBERY, 5700 block of Columbia Pike, 5/20/14, 8:43 p.m. A man entered a fast food restaurant and handed a note demanding cash to an employee. The suspect took cash and fled. There were no injuries. The suspect was described as black, 30s, about 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds.
