Daily Activity Report


This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The time frame is the actual 24-hour period for each day.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Daily Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

5600 block of Lalos Street, money from vehicle

5600 block of Lalos Street, money/sunglasses from vehicle

6300 block of Multiplex Drive, license plates from vehicle

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

7900 block of Wellington Road, rings from residence

2300 block of Huntingon Avenue, beer from business

8600 block of Richmond Highway, wine from business

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

1900 Chain Bridge Road, watch from business

3500 Georgetown Pike, cell phone from business

MASON DISTRICT STATION

PEDESTRIAN FATAL, 5800 block of Leesburg Pike, 4/4/13, 10:50 p.m. A 45-year-old man was driving east on Leesburg Pike. Herman Bartlett, 54, of Falls Church, was crossing the street. Bartlett was struck by the 2009 Honda Accord and died as a result of his injuries. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors, and the case is under investigation.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

FALSE SUMMONING, Warwick Stone Way, 4/4/13, 3:50 a.m. Officers were called to the residence for a reported shot person. The call was determined to be a false report. Officers checked the home and confirmed there was no emergency. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY, 12100 block of Walnut Branch Road, 4/4/13, 8:20 p.m. Officers responded for a residential alarm. They found a rear door forced open. The owner confirmed a laptop computer was stolen.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 6900 block of Cove Inlet Court, 4/4/13, 7:20 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. Entry was made through a window.

LARCENIES:

5600 block of Tower Hill Circle, wallet from business

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 4700 block of Commons Drive, 4/4/13, 8:30 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry.

LARCENIES:

6200 block of Rolling Road, cell phone from residence

8100 block of Strawberry Lane, wallet from business

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

SUSPICIOUS PERSON, 3100 block of Northwood Road, 4/4/13, 10:30 p.m. Officers responded for a suspicious person in the area. They found an individual who ran from them. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted in searching for the person. The helicopter found him hiding in a nearby park. Scott Crampton, 20, of Fairfax, was charged with drunk in public, violation of probation, and resisting arrest.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

CRUELTY TO ANIMAL, 13900 block of Rock Brook Court, 4/4/13, 7:30 a.m. A cat owner reported the cat was injured. The evidence indicates the cat was possibly shot by a BB gun. The case is under investigation.

ANIMAL BITE, 7700 block of Rowan Court, 4/4/13, 11:30 a.m. A 29-year-old reported she was bitten on the leg by a dog while walking in her driveway. The dog owner, Ruth Jara, 61, of Annandale, was charged with no county dog license. The male, Bichon was routinely quarantined.
