Daily Activity Report


This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The time frame is the actual 24-hour period for each day.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Daily Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT, 8200 block of Russell Road, 4/9/13, 11:25 p.m. An officer observed two individuals fighting. Demetrius Harrington, 21, of Maryland, was charged with assault.

BURGLARY, 2800 block of Fairhaven Avenue, 4/9/13, 2:35 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. There were no signs of forced entry.

6200 block of North Kings Highway, vodka from business

6700 block of Richmond Highway, cigarettes from business

7400 block of Richmond Highway, dog from business

7700 block of Richmond Highway, wallet from business

8200 block of Russell Road, cell phone from vehicle

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 7100 block of Eastman Drive, 4/9/13, 4:05 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include a laptop computer. Forced entry was made through a window.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

2000 block of Royal Fern Court, parking permit from vehicle

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

GRAFFITI, 9200 block of Lewis Chapel Road, 4/9/13, noon. A resident reported someone painted images and words on the sidewalk. The owner was removing the graffiti.

Police Involved Shooting

LARCENIES:

7900 block of Conell Court, food from business

5800 block of Kingstowne Boulevard, money from business

7600 block of Telegraph Road, cell phone from business

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT, 9400 block of Old Burke Lake Road, 4/9/13, 2:50 a.m. Officers responded for a fight in progress. Four individuals were seen actively assaulting each other. When ordered to stop by officers one individual ran away. Yusuf Wehelie, 21, of Burke, was charged with two counts of assault. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted in searching for the other individual. No one was located.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY/NARCOTICS, 5400 block of Brigantine Way, 4/9/13, 7:30 a.m. Officers were called for someone allegedly in the pool area. Jacob Cover, 22, of no fixed address, was charged with unlawful entry and possession of drug paraphernalia.

6400 block of Shiplett Boulevard, credit card from business

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

SERVICE/MISSING PERSON, 12800 block of Melvue Court, 4/9/13, 2:05 p.m. Officers were called for a suspicious person in motor home. There was concern the man had a weapon. Many officers responded. After contact was made with the 55-year-old, he was provided medical attention for a non life-threatening condition. An investigation confirmed he had been reported missing earlier in the day in another jurisdiction.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

WILD ANIMAL VIOLATION, 2500 block of Huntington Avenue, 4/8/13, 8:35 p.m. An Animal Control Officer responded for a person allegedly selling baby squirrels. Ian Townsend, 19, of Alexandria, was charged with keeping a wild animal and selling a wild animal.

ANIMAL BITE, 7100 block of Rock Ridge Lane, 4/9/13, 6:40 p.m. A 6-year-old was riding her bicycle and allegedly bitten by a dog on a leash. She received minor injuries. The owner, Vanessa Hofilena, 30, of Alexandria, was charged with no dog license. The Golden Retriever was routinely quarantined.
