Daily Activity Report


This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The time frame is the actual 24-hour period for each day.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Daily Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

DAILY ARRESTS FOR SELECTED CHARGES

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

DWI CHECKPOINT, Fairfax County Parkway/Walnut Branch Road, 4/12/13, 11:30 p.m. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau conducted a checkpoint. Approximately 537 vehicles were screened. Two drivers were charged with DWI and three summonses were issued.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 5800 block of Ridings Manor Place, 4/9/13, 3:35 p.m. A resident reported that two people were seen leaving her home. There was no damage. The helicopter assisted and the suspects were located. Lovedeep Singh, 18, of Bristow, was charged with trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A 15-year-old from Woodbridge was with Singh. She was returned to her mother.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 7100 block of Harrison Lane, 4/12/13, 7:25 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include clothing. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

SEXUAL OFFENSE, 8200 block of Richmond Highway, 4/12/13, 3:20 p.m. A 21-year-old reported she was touched inappropriately by unknown man. He approached from behind, touched her, and fled. She was did not require medical attention.

BURGLARY, 8700 block of Richmond Highway, 4/13/13, 1:05 a.m. An officer was checking the shopping center when he saw two individuals abruptly run away. It was determined that forced entry was made into one of the businesses. Nothing was stolen. The helicopter and a K-9 responded to assist in a search but no one was located.

BURGLARY, 7500 block of Richmond Highway, 4/13/13, 6:20 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole cash and cigarettes. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

BURGLARY, 8600 block of Richmond Highway, 4/13/13, 8:40 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole several items to include keys. Forced entry was made through a door.

BURGLARY, 8200 block of Greta Court, 4/14/13, 3 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the apartment and stole clothes. Entry was made through an unlocked door.

BURGLARY, 8505 Highland Lane, 4/14/13, 8:40 a.m. School personnel reported someone entered Woodlawn Elementary School and set off fire extinguishers. Forced entry was made through a pried open door.

ROBBERY, ABDUCTION, IDENTITY THEFT, FORGING A PUBLIC DOCUMENT,  8500 block of Richmond Highway, 4/14/13, 9:25 p.m.  Police responded for a robbery. An investigation determined a 29-year-old woman was grabbed from behind while walking along Richmond Highway. The suspect reportedly dragged her into a wooded area holding a sharp object to her side and demanded money. The victim screamed and fought back and the suspect fled. A K9 team located the suspect nearby and he was arrested. Mariano Aldon Reyes Barrias, 27, of no fixed address, was charged with robbery, abduction, identity theft and forging a public document.

ROBBERY, 7100 block of Mint Place, 4/14/13, 10:35 p.m. A 37-year-old reported a group of possibly six or seven juveniles approached him. They brandished a knife and demanded money. The victim told them he did not have any and walked away. He was not injured.

ROBBERY, 3300 block of Lockheed Boulevard, 4/14/13, 10:50 p.m. A 62-year-old reported a group of eight juveniles approached him. They brandished a knife and demanded money. He handed them his wallet and they fled. The victim was not injured.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT, 2700 block of Cedar Lane, 4/13/13, 10:45 p.m. Officers were called for an unknown situation. While investigating, Ever Alvarado, 18, of Vienna, was placed under arrest for being drunk in public. He allegedly resisted. Officers learned he inappropriately grabbed a 25-year-old woman in the home. Alvarado was charged with drunk in public, assault, resisting arrest, and sexual battery.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

FIGHT, 3600 block of Barcroft View Terrace, 4/12/13, 4:45 p.m. Officers were called for a fight. They stopped several juveniles leaving the area. There was not sufficient evidence to charge anyone in the assault, but two juveniles, 16 and 17, were charged with illegal possession of alcohol.

BURGLARY, 3500 block of Washington Drive, 4/12/13, 5:45 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include jewelry. Forced entry was made through a window.

BURGLARY, 3900 block of Oliver Avenue, 4/13/13, 4:50 a.m. A resident reported he heard a noise in the kitchen. When he checked on it, he saw a female quickly exit the home. Nothing was taken. There were no signs of forced entry. The helicopter and a K-9 assisted in a search, but no one was found.

DWI/PURSUIT, Oak Ridge Road/Wayne Road, 4/14/13, 1:50 a.m. An officer observed a vehicle allegedly operating erratically in the area of Arlington Boulevard/Graham Road. When he attempted to the stop the vehicle, the driver continued and sped away. The vehicle eventually stopped. Francisco Soriano, 38, of Richmond, was charged with DWI, no operator’s license, and eluding police.

ASSAULT, 6600 Barrett Road, 4/14/13, 5 a.m. Police responded for a domestic dispute between multiple occupants in a private residence. Jorge Campodonico-Bustios, 29, of Maryland, was charged with malicious wounding, arson and unlawful entry. The victim was not seriously injured. Additionally, Ruby Nunez, 24, of Falls Church, was charged with drunk in public.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 1700 block of Lake Shore Crest Drive, 4/14/13, 10:30 p.m. A resident reported someone forced entry through a sliding glass door and stole money.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT, 9400 block of Lorton Market Street, 4/13/13, 9:50 p.m. A 53-year-old man was at a business when confronted by another man. The two exchanged a few words and the other man struck the victim in the head. The suspect was escorted out of the establishment. The victim was not seriously injured.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT, Annaberg Court/Bridgetown Place, 4/14/13, 12:56 a.m. Officers were responding to a dispute between roommates when a 45-year-old man informed that one of the roommates allegedly punched him earlier. Sean Griffin, 28, of Burke, was charged with assault.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT, I66 between Rt 50 and Rt 123, 4/13/13, 4 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver got out of vehicle and approached the officer. Allegedly, the driver pushed the officer and subsequently resisted arrest. Brandon Weaver, 22, of Leesburg, was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and reckless driving.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

ANIMAL BITE, Dwight Street/Monroe Street, 4/14/13, 12:45 p.m. A 52-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when he passed another man walking a dog on a leash. The dog allegedly bit the victim. The dog owner continued to walk away. The victim received minor injuries. Bite Notices will be posted for fawn colored, small-to-medium sized, Labrador Retriever mix.

MALTREAT ANIMAL, 13800 block of Walney Park Drive, 4/14/13, 6:20 p.m. An Animal Control Officer responded to pick up a dog that was running at large. The officer noticed sores on the dog. The owner, My-Linh Nguyen, 58, of Chantilly, was charged with dog running at large and failure to provide adequate care.
