Daily Activity Report


This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The time frame is the actual 24-hour period for each day.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Daily Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, Fielding Street/Havenwood Place, 4/22/13, 10:20 p.m. A 24-year-old reported he was sitting in a vehicle when two men approached. One suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money. They fled with the victim’s wallet. The victim was not injured. The suspects were described as black men, 20-25 years old, approximately 6 feet tall and skinny. They were wearing black clothing. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted in searching for the suspect but no one was located.

BRANDISHING/DWI, 8100 block of Fordson Road, 4/22/13, 8:30 p.m. Officers responded for two men fighting. An investigation revealed the two knew each other and an argument became physical. One man allegedly brandished a handgun. The other man fled and drove away; he was stopped by officers. William Frye, 41, of Maryland, was charged with brandishing and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Thomas Bell, 46, of Maryland, was charged with eluding police and DWI.

BURGLARY, 7700 block of Richmond Highway, 4/22/13, 11 p.m. Officers responded for a business alarm and found the front door was smashed. An employee confirmed several items were stolen to include speakers.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

6600 block of Osborn Street, tires from vehicle

3000 block of Pine Spring Road, cell phone from residence

1900 block of Storm Drive, tools from vehicle

MASON DISTRICT STATION

TRESPASSING, 4300 block of Sano Street, 4/22/13, 9:55 p.m. Officers responded for a suspicious person. A man was spotted hiding in the church. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted. The man ran out the back and was followed by the helicopter until officers could take him into custody. Christopher Roberts, 24, of Alexandria, was charged with trespassing at a church at night and larceny.

7300 block of Wayne Drive, four tires from vehicle

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

1500 block of Scandia Circle, cell phone from residence

1200 block of Shaker Drive, cell phone from library

9300 block of Wolf Trap Creek Court, credit card from residence

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

7000 block of Brookfield Plaza, cell phone from business

6500 block of Franconia Road, cell phone from school

6600 block of Loisdale Road, three pairs of shoes from business

6400 block of Springfield Plaza, bottle of liquor from business

6200 block of Ruby Virginia Court, bicycle from residence

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

8400 block of Old Keene Mill Road, two bottles of liquor from business

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

None reported

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

MALTREAT ANIMAL, 8300 block of Brockham Drive, 4/19/13, 10:55 a.m. Animal Control officers were called to check the welfare of cats. The officers returned several times. On Sunday, April 21, the officers made contact with home owners. Five cats and four turtles were seized and transported to a veterinarian. Carl Piper, 57, and Phyllis Piper, 56, Alexandria, were each charged with five counts of duty of owner (failure to provide adequate care) and one charge of unfit owner.
