Daily Activity Report


This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The time frame is the actual 24-hour period for each day.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Daily Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

DAILY ARRESTS FOR SELECTED CHARGES

Domestic violence-related charges: 9

Illegal drug-related charges: 42

DWI-related charges: 33

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

CHECK POINT, 5/3/13. Officers from the Sully Police District conducted a DWI check point near Lee Highway and O’Day Drive. Approximately, 527 vehicles passed through. One driver was charged with DWI. Six Virginia Uniform Summonses were issued and three narcotics arrests were made.

DIRECTED PATROL, 5/4/13. Officers from the Mount Vernon Police District patrolled the area searching for drunk drivers. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Fifteen summonses and 15 warnings were issued. Also, two criminal arrests were made.

CHECK POINT, 5/5/13. Officers from the McLean Police District conducted a DWI check point near Arlington Boulevard and Annandale Road. Approximately, 770 vehicles passed through. One driver was charged with DWI. Eleven Virginia Uniform Summonses were issued and one narcotics arrest was made.

DIRECTED PATROL, 5/5/13. Officers from the Mount Vernon Police District patrolled the area searching for drunk drivers. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Fourteen summonses and 11 warnings were issued. Also, one criminal arrest was made.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

DRUNK IN PUBLIC, 6200 block of Multiplex Drive, 5/4/13, 8:10 p.m. Officers responded for a reported brandishing of a firearm. They located Amir Shukry, 27, of Centreville, and charged him with being drunk in public. An extensive search of area was conducted but no weapon was located.

ASSAULT, 14100 block of Saint Germain Drive, 5/5/13, 12:40 a.m. A 20-year-old reported he was sitting at a restaurant when an unknown man assaulted him. The suspect fled. The victim was not seriously injured.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENY/ASSAULT, 2900 block of Arlington Drive, 5/4/13, 5:10 p.m. The 31-year-old victim reported she saw a man reach into her vehicle and take her purse. Her husband chased the suspect and was allegedly struck. The victims were not injured. Theodore Smalley, 60, of no fixed address, was charged with grand larceny and assault.

BURGLARY, 4600 block of Lawrence Street, 5/4/13, noon. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a television. Entry was made through an unlocked door.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

Serial Burglaries in McLean Area

BURGLARY, 3000 block of Monticello Drive, 5/5/13, 3:10 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home. Forced entry was made through a window. Officer located Cristian Cardona Bamaca, 18, of Falls Church, in the home. He was charged with burglary.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

Man Shot in Landmark Area

BURGLARY, 4600 block of Barnum Lane, 5/4/13, 11 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home but nothing was stolen. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

ASSAULT, 6000 block of Leesburg Pike, 5/4/13, 9:25 p.m. Officers responded for an unknown situation. They learned that a 19-year-old employee was struck by a customer. Adelio Romero Mendez, 37, of Falls Church, was charged with being drunk in public.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 4200 block of Conally Street, 5/5/13, 6:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered and fled when confronted by the resident. Entry was made through an unlocked door. Nothing was stolen.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENY, 2800 block of Winter Oaks Way, 5/4/13, 5 a.m. A newspaper delivery person reported suspicious persons in the area of some vehicles. Officers arrived and located three juvenile boys. Apparently, items were stolen out of several vehicles. The three boys, ages 14, 16, and 16, have pending charges of larceny, grand larceny and vehicle trespass.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 12400 block of Cliff Edge Drive, 5/5/13, 12:15 a.m. Officer responded and found many people outside the vacant home. All dispersed as officers approached. There were no signs of forced entry.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 7000 block of Rhoden Court, 5/4/13, 7:30 a.m. An employee reported someone entered a vacant apartment. Forced entry was made through a window.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT, 8100 block of Braddock Road, 5/4/13, 3:10 p.m. An 11-year-old reported an unknown man grabbed her arm as she was throwing a ball. The victim was not injured. Due to a time lapse in reporting none of the adults in the area could provide any further information.

BURGLARY, 7400 block of Little River Turnpike, 5/5/13, 12:40 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a laptop computer. Entry was made through an unlocked door.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

1300 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, cell phone from business

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

ANIMAL BITE, 5900 block of Oakland Park Drive, 5/4/13, 2:20 p.m. A 70-year-old was walking on the sidewalk. A dog ran out and bit her in the hand. She was not seriously injured. The Schnauzer was routinely quarantined.

ANIMAL BITE, 4700 block of Commons Drive, 5/4/13, 3:20 p.m. An 80-year-old reported she was bitten by a dog. The victim was transported to the hospital for precaution due to unrelated medical reasons. The Lhasa Apso was routinely quarantined.
