Daily Activity Report


This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The time frame is the actual 24-hour period for each day.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Daily Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

LARCENIES:

14700 block of Lee Highway, cigarettes from business

4100 block of Pleasant Meadow Court, backpack from vehicle

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, 5600 block of Kathryn Street, 5/20/13, 12:55 a.m. A 25-year-old man reported two men attempted to steal his book bag. The suspects approached from behind and grabbed the bag. The victim was able to hold onto his property. The suspects fled and the victim was not injured.

BURGLARY, 2000 block of Huntington Avenue, 5/20/13, 4:45 p.m. A resident reported someone entered his home and stole a handgun. There were no signs of forced entry.

200 block of Denfield Drive, electronic device from residence

3004 block of Furman Lane, wallet from vehicle

4500 block of Lantern Place, GPS and money from vehicle

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, 9400 block of Lee Highway, 5/20/13, 5:55 a.m. A 43-year-old man reported a female acquaintance and an unknown man robbed him. The victim was in the passenger seat in a vehicle when the male suspect grabbed him from behind, brandished a knife, and demanded money. The victim gave them his wallet and was allowed out of the vehicle uninjured.

BURGLARY, 800 block of Lawton Street, 5/20/13, 3:15 p.m. A neighbor reported an open door. Officers confirmed that someone forced entry into the home. It is unknown if anything was stolen.

2900 block of Gallows Road, backpack from business

8000 block of Grandiew Court, power tools from vehicle

2000 block of International Drive, license plate from vehicle

6800 block of Stockwell Manor Drive, bicycle from residence

2000 block of Peach Orchard Drive, Honda Civic

MASON DISTRICT STATION

None reported

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

12000 block of Bowman Towne Drive, license plates from vehicle

2300 block of Soapstone Drive, donation jar from business

12000 block of Sunrise Valley Drive, gun from residence

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

6400 block of Caleb Court, credit cards from residence

8400 block of Terminal Road, wood pallets from business

STOLEN VEHICLES:

7100 block of Rock Ridge Lane, Suzuki motorcycle

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

4400 block of Forest Glen Court, power tools from residence

STOLEN VEHICLES:

3900 block of Fair Ridge Drive, keys from business

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

DESTRUCTION/BURGALRY, 2900 block of Chain Bridge Road, 5/20/13, 2:55 a.m. Officers were called for destruction at a business. The found a total of five businesses with damaged front doors. Confirmed entry was made in a couple of the businesses. No confirmation has been made if anything was stolen. The cases are under investigation.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

MALTREAT ANIMAL, 5700 block of General Washington Drive, 5/20/13, 1:40 p.m. Officers were called for dog left in a vehicle. Fire and Rescue personnel forced entry into the vehicle. An Animal Control Officer took custody of the Jack Russell Terrier because the owner could not be found. The dog appears to not have been injured. The case is under investigation.

ANIMAL BITE, 4500 block of Garbo Court, 5/20/13, 6:30 p.m. An 11-year-old girl was walking near her home when a Beagle mix allegedly broke free of his owner and bit the girl. The Beagle was routinely quarantined.
