Daily Activity Report


This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The time frame is the actual 24-hour period for each day.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Daily Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 6400 block of Paddington Court, 5/23/13, 11:05 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home but nothing was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry.

LARCENIES:

13500 block of Sequoia Lea Drive, steering wheel from vehicle

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

SHOPLIFTING, 7400 block of Mount Vernon Square Center, 5/23/13, 12:20 p.m. Two young men entered the business and placed drinks in their back pack. They fled after pushing an employee.

BURGLARY, 1700 block of Rampart Drive, 5/23/13, 9:30 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a laptop computer. There were no signs of forced entry.

LARCENIES:

3800 block of Miramonte Place, cell phone from residence

2700 block of Popkins Lane, electronic device from school

1700 block of Rampart Drive, laptop computers and desktop computer from business

7200 block of Richmond Highway, cell phone from business

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 3000 block of Rogers Drive, 5/23/13, 4 p.m. A real estate agent reported he was checking a vacant property. There was evidence someone had been in the home. Several officers responded to assist. No one was located.

LARCENIES:

1400 block of Balls Hill Road, gas grill and propane tanks from business

2900 block of Cedar Lane, beer from business

8300 block of Leesburg Pike, moped from business

8400 block of Leesburg Pike, electronic device from business

1300 block of Spring Hill Road, cash from residence

MASON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

3100 block of South Manchester Street, license plate from vehicle

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

None reported

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

900 block of Locust Street, cell phone from school

900 block of Locust Street, sneakers from school

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT, 7700 block of Suarci Court, 5/23/13, 8:10 p.m. A 14-year-old boy reported he was walking home when he was assaulted. Two or three unknown individuals struck him from behind knocking him to the ground. They fled. The victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

BURGLARY, 4300 block of Wedgewood Drive, 5/23/13, 10:25 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through a door.

LARCENIES:

6700 block of Bostwick Drive, tires from vehicle

6300 block of Springfield Plaza, cell phone from business

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

None reported

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

ANIMAL BITE, 8900 block of Triple Ridge Road, 5/23/13, 7:45 a.m. A 59-year-old man on a bicycle was allegedly bitten by a dog which escaped from its yard. The victim was not seriously injured. The Mastiff/Spaniel/Hound mix was routinely quarantined.

CRUELTY TO ANIMAL, 900 block of Springvale Road, 5/23/13, 5:40 p.m. An Animal Control Officer was called for a dead dog. Allegedly, a 21-year-old kicked and killed the family pet. Warrant has been obtained for animal cruelty.
