Daily Activity Report


This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The time frame is the actual 24-hour period for each day.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Daily Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

DAILY ARRESTS FOR SELECTED CHARGES

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

DIRECTED PATROL, 5/24/13. Officers of the Operation Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. One driver was charged with DWI and 18 were issued Virginia Uniformed Summonses.

CHECKPOINT, Richmond Highway/Pohick Road, 5/24/13. Officers conducted a checkpoint. Approximately 652 vehicles passed. One driver was charged with DWI and six Virginia Uniformed Summonses were issued.

CHECKPOINT, Little River Turnpike/John Marr Drive, 5/25/13. Officers conducted a checkpoint. Approximately 608 vehicles passed. Two drivers were charged with DWI and 14 Virginia Uniformed Summonses were issued.

DIRECTED PATROL, 5/26/13.  Officers of the Operation Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. Two drivers were charged with DWI and one was arrested was made. Also, nine warnings and 35 Virginia Uniformed Summonses were issued.

14300 block of Penrose Place, license plate from vehicle

4000 block of Westfax Drive, steel pipes from business

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 3800 block of El Camino Place, 5/24/13, 6:40 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole clothing. Forced entry was made through the front door.

ASSAULT, Frye Road/Madge Lane, 5/25/13, 1:20 a.m. A 37-year-old man reported he assaulted by three Hispanic men. The victim was able to fight off the suspects, but received a minor puncture wound. He was treated at the hospital.

ROBBERY, Seven Woods Drive/Tamarind Street, 5/25/13, 2:50 a.m. Two men 47 and 21 years of age reported an unknown man surprised them, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. The victims were not injured. The suspect fled with cash and jewelry. The suspect was described as male, black, 20 to 30 years old, approximately five feet 10 inches tall and 165 pounds. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted in a search of the suspect.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2300 block of Nordok Place, 5/25/13, 7 p.m. Officers responded for an alarm. The found evidence someone entered the building. No one was located and nothing was stolen.

FIGHT, 8700 block of Richmond Highway, 5/26/13, 5:10 p.m. Officers responded for a fight. Several women were found fighting but none were seriously injured. Following an investigation, Iterria Garret, 28, of Alexandria, was charged with assault. Candace Garrett, 27, of Alexandria, was charged with one count of strangulation and three counts of assault.

ROBBERY, 6300 block of South Kings Highway, 5/26/13, 10:40 p.m. A 27-year-old man reported an unknown man approached him, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash. The suspect fled with the victim’s wallet. The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as male, black, 20 to 30 years old, approximately six feet three inches tall and 185 pounds.

DWI/ASSAULT, Fordson Road/Richmond Highway, 5/27/13, 1:05 a.m. An officer stopped a vehicle and charged the driver with DWI. During the arrest process, Mary Sander, 53, of Fort Belvoir, allegedly stuck the officer. She was charged with DWI, obstruction, refusal, and assault on a police officer.

BURGLARY, 2700 block of Mennifield Court, 5/27/13, 4:10 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole electronics. Forced entry was made through a window.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, 8200 block of Crestwood Heights Drive, 5/25/13, 11:50 p.m. A 22-year-old man reported he was walking away from an ATM when an unknown man brandished a handgun and demanded the cash. The suspect fled with the cash. The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as male, white, 20 to 25 years old, approximately five feet 10 inches tall and 220 pounds.

BURGLARY, 6700 block of Darrells Grant Place, 5/26/13, 12:45 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a bicycle. Entry was made through an unsecured door.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 3200 block of Sleepy Hollow Road, 5/24/13, 9:30 a.m. A realtor reported someone entered the home, but nothing was stolen. Forced entry was made through a window.

PEDTRIAN STRUCK, Little River Turnpike/Winterset Drive, 5/26/13, 5:45 p.m. A 16-year-old boy was driving a minivan. He went off the road to the right and stuck 19-year-old man walking on the side of the road. The victim was transported with life-threatening injuries. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY, 1700 block of Whitewood Lane, 5/24/13, 8:15 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Entry was made through an unsecured door.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 8000 block of Mims Street, 5/25/13, 9:45 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole vehicle parts. Entry was made through an incomplete fence.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

PURSUIT, 4900 block of Briggs Road, 5/27/13, 4:50 p.m. An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a registration violation near Village Drive and Leehigh Drive. The vehicle came to a stop on Briggs Road. James Taylor, 19, of Fairfax, was charged with speed to elude, driving on a suspended license, defective equipment, no safety inspection, and improperly displayed license plate.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

ANIMAL BITE, 6400 block of Knapsack Lane, 5/24/13, 1:05 p.m. Animal Control Officers were called for a dog which was running at large and bit a 30-year-old woman attempting to capture the dog. The victim was not seriously injured. The Beagle mix was routinely quarantined.
