ACTIVITIES REPORTED THROUGH June 05, 2013


This report is published every Friday. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the week before. Reports cover a time frame from the preceding Thursday through the next Wednesday.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Weekly Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

Safety Check Sidelines 33% of All Trucks

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

DIRECTED PATROL, 05/31/13. Officers of the Operation Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. One driver was charged with DWI. Seventy-one Virginia Uniformed Summonses and 11 Warnings were issued.

DIRECTED PATROL, 06/01/13. Officers of the Operation Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. Three drivers were charged with DWI. Forty-nine Virginia Uniformed Summonses and four Warnings were issued.

CHECKPOINT, Old Keene Mill Road/Rolling Road, 06/01/13. Officers conducted a checkpoint. Approximately 689 vehicles passed. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Thirteen Virginia Uniformed Summonses were issued.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 13900 block of New Braddock Road, 6/1/13, 2:10 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a backpack. Officers stopped a vehicle leaving the area and located evidence of the burglary. Daniel Boamah, 18, of Woodbridge was charged with grand larceny. One 17-year-old boy was detained on unrelated charges. Charges are pending.

BURGLARY, 13600 block of Springstone Drive, 6/3/13, 5:30 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole several drinks. Forced entry was made through a door.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 2300 block of Nordok Place, 5/30/13, 2:30 a.m. Officers, to include the helicopter and a K-9 team, responded for an alarm at the school. Forced entry was made through a door and electronic devices were stolen. No suspect was located.

BURGLARY, 6000 block of Richmond Highway, 5/31/13, 5:20 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole an electronic device. There were no signs of forced entry.

ROBBERY, 3800 block of Segundo Place, 5/31/13, 10 p.m. A 36-year-old woman reported she was robbed while walking to her vehicle. She was approached by two unknown black men who assaulted her and stole her purse. She received minor injuries. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted in searching for the suspects who were not located.

ROBBERY, 8400 block of Richmond Highway, 6/1/13, 11:05 p.m. A 30-year-old man reported he was robbed while walking home. He was approached by two unknown Hispanic men who assaulted him and stole his wallet. He received minor injuries. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted in searching for the suspects who were not located.

PEEPING/LARCENY, 7700 block of Eagle Avenue, 6/2/13, 1:55 a.m. A neighbor reported someone was looking into the home and stole beer that was on the patio. The suspect was not located.

BURGLARY, 6300 block of South Kings Highway, 6/2/13, 11:15 a.m. An employee reported that someone entered the business and stole cash. Forced entry was made through the front door.

DWI/PURSUIT, 2400 block of Fairhaven Avenue, 6/2/13, 11:10 p.m. An officer initiated a traffic stop for a minor offense in the area of Fairhaven Avenue and Richmond Highway. The vehicle continued on Richmond Highway, made several turns, and eventually stopped in the 2400 block of Fairhaven Avenue. The driver, Yanira Navarrete, 24, of Alexandria, was charged with DWI, refusal, and driving while revoked.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, 8300 block of Leesburg Pike, 5/31/13, 12:10 a.m. An employee reported a man entered the business, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash from the register. The victim initially complied and fled without injury. The suspect fled with the cash. Following an investigation, John Hudspeth, 30, of Manassas, was arrested on 6/5/13 and charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Coordination was made with The City of Manassas and Prince William County. Two additional charges were made in Prince William County.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, 6000 block of Vista Drive, 6/3/13, 10 p.m. A 37-year-old man reported he was assaulted by two juveniles who stole his phone. The victim received minor injuries. There is no suspect description.

HIT AND RUN, 6200 block of Little River Turnpike, 6/5/13, 4:30 p.m. Officer responded for an injured 31-year-old man. He was located in the parking garage and transported with serious injuries. An investigation is on-going.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

NARCOTICS, 6800 block of Springfield Boulevard, 5/31/13, 3:40 p.m. Officers were investigating a loud noise. They located evidence of possible narcotics violations. Hunter Meyer, 22, of Maryland, was charged with three counts of possession of narcotics. The case is still under investigation with additional charges pending.

ASSAULT, 6400 block of Telegraph Road, 5/31/13, 7:10 p.m. Officers responded for robbery in progress. An officer stopped the suspects who had driven away. Jarrett Banks, 19, of Alexandria, was charged with driving on a revoked license. Joshua Deck and Malcolm Sherman, both 18 and of Alexandria, were each charged with possession of marijuana. The 26-year-old male victim was not injured. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY, 5500 block of Vine Street, 5/31/13, 7 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole a table. Forced entry was made through a fence.

BURGLARY, 3700 block of Ivanhoe Lane, 6/1/13, 10:25 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home but nothing was stolen. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

PURSUIT, Brookview Drive/Foldi Street, 6/5/13, 8:35 p.m. An officer initiated a traffic stop near Franconia Road and South Van Dorn Street. The vehicle allegedly accelerated away. Officers pursued the vehicle which eventually stopped on Brookview Drive. The driver, Tyree Ward, 26, of Alexandria, was charged with disregarding a stop light, driving on a suspended license, speed to elude, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

BURGLARY, 4500 block of Commons Drive, 5/30/13, 5:35 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. There were no signs of forced entry.

BURGLARY, 9200 block of Davis Drive, 5/30/13, 3:45 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a small safe. Forced entry was made through the front door.

WARRANT SERVICE, 4200 block of Americana Drive, 6/5/13, 1 p.m. Officers responded for a fight. They located a victim who was not cooperative, but apparently cash and prescription medication was stolen. An investigation revealed the victim was wanted for unrelated charges and subsequently arrested.

BURGLARY, 7900 block of John Adams Court, 6/5/13, 11:05 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. There were no signs of forced entry.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 3800 block of Centerview Drive, 5/31/13, 10:15 p.m. A 23-year-old woman was running on a path when she observed a naked man on the path. She was not injured. The suspect was not located.

BURGLARY, 13000 block of Fair Lakes Shopping Center, 6/4/13, 9 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole cash. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

CRASH, WB Route 50 ramp to Fair Oaks Mall, 6/4/13, 7:15 p.m. A 65-year-old man was riding a bicycle on the ramp away from the mall. A 22-year-old woman was driving toward the mall on the same ramp. Initial investigation reveals the man pulled out in front of the vehicle and was struck. He was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY, 2500 block of Chain Bridge Road, 6/5/13, 9:30 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

SHOPLIFTING, 11900 block of Fair Oaks Shopping Center, 6/5/13, 10:50 p.m. A loss prevention officer reported two women were allegedly exchanging stolen merchandise and using the cash to make new purchases. Janette Magallon Sanchez, 20, of Manassas, and Almendra Canales-Corzo, 19, of Fairfax, were each charged with grand larceny, possession of burglarious tools, and using false pretense to obtain currency.

ANIMAL BITE, 13000 block of May Hill Court, 5/30/13, 3:25 p.m. A 39-year-old man reported he was bit by a dog and received minor injuries. Angel Rivera, 48, of Fairfax, was charged with not having a dog license and no current vaccination. The Pit Bull Terrier was routinely quarantined.
