ACTIVITIES REPORTED THROUGH June 19, 2013


This report is published every Friday. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the week before. Reports cover a time frame from the preceding Thursday through the next Wednesday.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Weekly Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

WEEKLY ARRESTS FOR SELECTED CHARGES

Domestic violence-related charges: 21

Illegal drug-related charges: 85

DWI-related charges: 69

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/14/13. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. Four drivers were charged with DWI. Fifty-two summonses and 3 warnings were issued. There was also one criminal arrest.

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/14/13. Officers from the Reston Police District Station patrolled the district searching for drunk drivers. No drivers were charged with DWI. Ten summonses and 2 warnings were issued. There were also two criminal arrests.

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/15/13. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. One driver was charged with DWI. Forty-four summonses and 13 warnings were issued.

BUI CHECKPOINT, Pohick Bay, 6/15/13. Officers from the Marine Patrol Unit conducted a Boating Under the Influence Checkpoint. Forty-three vessels were checked. No BUI charges were made. Two Virginia Uniform Summonses and 9 safety warnings were issued.

CHECKPOINT, 4600 block of West Ox Road, 6/14/13. Officers conducted a DWI checkpoint searching for drunk drivers. Three-hundred-ninety-four vehicles passed through. Three drivers were charged with DWI. One summons was issued.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 13800 block of Laurel Rock Court, 6/18/13, 5:35 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

ROBBERY, 14400 block of Turin Lane, 6/18/13, 2:50 a.m. Two 24-year-old men reported they were assaulted and robbed of their wallets. The victims were walking when they were allegedly assaulted by three men. The suspects fled. One victim was not seriously injured; the other was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. During an investigation, Sebastian Santiago, 19, of Centreville, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and robbery. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY, 4100 block of Elmwood Street, 6/19/12, 2:45 a.m. Officers responded for an audible alarm. They found a shattered window and evidence someone entered the church. An employee responded and confirmed nothing appeared to be missing.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, Ladson Lane/Richmond Highway, 6/13/13, 10:30 p.m. A 34-year-old man reported he parked his car when an unknown man opened the door and demanded money. The victim did not have any money. The suspect punched the victim and fled. The victim was not injured.

BURGLARY, 3200 block of Clayborne Avenue, 6/14/13, 11:30 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through a window.

ASSAULT/LARCENY, 2500 block of Huntington Avenue, 6/15/13, 1:20 a.m. A 36-year-old man reported he was confronted by three individuals. He was allegedly assaulted by two of them and all attempted to take his jacket. The victim was not injured. Following a search of the area by a K-9 team, the helicopter and officers, the three suspects were detained. Devante Young, 20, and Devonte Miles, 19, both of Washington, DC, were each charged with assault and grand larceny. Linda Jamison, 20, of Washington, DC, was charged with grand larceny.

BURGLARY, 7400 block of Recard Lane, 6/19/13, 11 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through a window.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

SERIOUS CRASH, Lewinsville Road/Titania Lane, 6/17/13, 6:45 p.m. A 2003 Ford Escape, driven by a 21-year-old man, was going south on Lewinsville Road. A 50-year-old man was riding his bicycle north on Lewinsville Road. The vehicle turned left in front of the bicyclist causing the bike to hit the vehicle. The 50-year-old man received life-threatening injuries. Neither speed nor alcohol was factors as the investigation continues.

BURGLARY, 2200 block of Pimmit Drive, 6/18/13, 6:35 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole cash. Forced entry was made through a window.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 1800 block of Old Reston Avenue, 6/13/13, 6 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole a laptop computer. Forced entry was made through a rear window.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 1200 Wild Hawthorn Way, 6/13/13, 9:55 p.m. A 39-year-old man returned home and found two people inside. An investigation revealed one person believed she had permission to be there and the other individual was helping her move in. Following an investigation, Grace Hu, 18, of Herndon, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a minor.

BURGLARY, 11500 block of North Shore Drive, 6/14/13, 8:20 a.m. Officers responded for a school alarm and located two suspects allegedly inside. Following an investigation, Benjamin Thatcher, 25, and Yohannes Dinke, 37, both of Reston, were arrested and charged with three counts of burglary. One charge was for the school. Another charge was for entry into the clubhouse in the 1700 block of Clubhouse Road on Thursday, Jun 13. The third charge was for entry in the 1800 block of Old Reston Avenue also on Thursday, Jun 13. In all cases, forced entry was made through a door.

ROBBERY, 6300 block of Deer Ridge Trail Court, 6/15/13, 3:30 a.m. A 24-year-old man reported two or three individuals assaulted him and stole his wallet. The victim received minor injuries. The suspects fled.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 6500 block of Backlick Road, 6/16/13, 11:30 p.m. An employee reported someone entered the business but nothing was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 7600 block of Telegraph Road, 6/16/13, 5 a.m. Officers responded for an alarm call. They located two juveniles who entered the school. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing was stolen. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY, 5800 block of Chase Commons Court, 6/16/13, 10:10 a.m. An employee reported someone entered a storage area and stole refrigerant. Forced entry was made through a door.

BURGLARY, 4900 block of Old Well Road, 6/16/13, 11:10 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. There were no signs of forced entry.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 13100 block of Pelfrey Lane, 6/18/13, 1:30 a.m. A resident reported that someone opened the garage door and stole a bicycle. Officers located and arrested John Hernandez, 33, of Fairfax. Hernandez was charged with burglary and being drunk in public.

ROBBERY, 9500 block of Blake Lane, 6/18/13, 2 a.m. Two 24-year-old men were walking when three men attacked one of the victims. The second victim attempted to help and was also attacked. Both victims received minor injuries. The suspects stole a wallet and cell phone before fleeing.
