This report is published every Friday. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the week before. Reports cover a time frame from the preceding Thursday through the next Wednesday.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

WEEKLY ARRESTS FOR SELECTED CHARGES

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

CHECKPOINT, New Braddock Road/Singletons Way, 6/21/13. Officers conducted a DWI checkpoint searching for drunk drivers. Four hundred-sixty vehicles passed through. One driver was charged with DWI. One summons was issued for a criminal violation.

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/21/13. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Nineteen summonses were issued.

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/22/13. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. One driver was charged with DWI. Thirty-three summonses were issued.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 13500 block of Sierra Drive, 6/22/13, 5:40 p.m. A resident reported an unknown man entered the unlocked home. When the suspect saw someone in the home, he turned around and walked away.

AUTO THEFT, I66/Route 29, 6/22/13, 11:10 p.m. An officer observed a stolen vehicle pass him and stopped the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle ran away and was not located. Following an investigation, the other passengers were released. The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Manassas, was charged with grand larceny and driving on a revoked license.

BURGLARY, 4100 block of Sulser Place, 6/25/13, 11:10 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home but nothing was stolen. Forced entry was made through an unsecured window.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT/LARCENY, 4000 block of Fielding Street, 6/20/13, 11 p.m. A 14-year-old boy reportedly was at a local park attempting to retrieve his bicycle. Several juvenile boys confronted him and allegedly assaulted him. One of the boys walked away with the victim’s basketball and another took the bicycle. The victim received minor injuries. Three juveniles have been identified and petitions are pending. An investigation continues.

BURGLARY/WARRANT SERVICE, 6100 block of North Kings Highway, 6/21/13, 5:30 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole merchandise. Forced entry was made through a wall. While conducting their investigation, officers located James Via, 23, of Alexandria. Via was wanted for unrelated charges and arrested.

BURGLARY, 8500 block of Greenleaf Street, 6/22/13, 11 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. Forced entry was made through a door.

BURGLARY, 8500 block of Greenleaf Street, 6/22/13, 11:45 a.m. A resident reported that someone entered the home several weeks ago and stole jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry.

ASSAULT, Elkin Street/Fort Hunt Road, 6/22/13, 9:40 p.m. Officers were called for a man allegedly running naked in the street. Lorenza Myers, 20, of Alexandria, was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer, drunk in public, resisting arrest, and indecent exposure.

ASSAULT/DESTRUCTION, 6300 block of South Kings Highway, 6/23/13, 12:30 a.m. Officers were called for a fight and located two young women fighting. A 15-year-old victim was not seriously injured. Naje Shield, 18, of Fort Belvoir, was charged with assault and battery, destruction of property, and drunk in public. Allegedly, Shield shattered a window on the patrol car after being taken into custody.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 4200 block of Buckman Road, 6/23/13, 1:30 p.m. An employee reported someone entered the business but nothing was stolen. Entry was made through an unsecured door.

DRUNK IN PUBLIC, 7200 block of Richmond Highway, 6/26/13, 2:10 a.m. Officers were called for an individual allegedly intoxicated. Jaimon Spinner, 25, of Alexandria, was located in the business. Spinner allegedly resisted being taken into custody. He was charged with drunk in public and resisting arrest.

BURGLARY, 7800 block of Southdown Road, 6/26/13, 9:40 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through a garage door.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

BUSINESS CHECKS, 6/22/13. Officers from the McLean Station with members of the Department of Code Compliance, County Licensing, and the Fire Marshal’s Office inspected several massage businesses. Two warrants were served and cash was seized. Thirty-six fire code, 18 building code, and five zoning violations were cited.

DESTRUCTION, 1600 block of Davison Road, 6/24/13, 7:30 a.m. An employee reported a vehicle in the parking lot, owned by the school, was vandalized. The officer saw the window destroyed, but nothing was stolen.

BURGLARY, 8200 block of Leesburg Pike, 6/24/13, 9:50 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole copper wiring. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

INDECENT EXPOSURE, Leesburg Pike/Payne Street, 6/21/13, 10:20 p.m. Officers were called for a man allegedly walking naked in the street. Henry Bush, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with indecent exposure, drunk in public and pedestrian impeding traffic.

ROBBERY, 6300 block of Seven Corners Center, 6/22/13, 2:20 a.m. An employee reported two men entered the business and attempted to shoplift beer. When the manager approached, the suspects threatened him and fled with the beer. No one was injured.

BURGLARY, 5700 block of Leesburg Pike, 6/22/13, 6:25 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole several items to include laptop computers. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

BURGLARY, 6173 Arlington Boulevard, 6/22/13, 5:40 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. There were no signs of forced entry.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 6400 block of Frenchmans Drive, 6/22/13, 9:15 p.m. A resident reported a known juvenile forced his way into the home. Responding officers located and detained the 15-year-old and released him to family members. Charges are pending.

ASSAULT, 3300 block of Woodburn Road, 6/23/13, 5 a.m. Two young men, known to each other, fought. Allegedly, an 18-year-old stabbed a 17-year-old during the altercation. The victim was treated for non life-threatening injuries. Perry Cunningham, 18, of Falls Church, was charged with malicious wounding.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 3300 block of Carlyn Court, 6/25/13, 10:35 a.m. Officers were called for a man allegedly exposing himself. Jose Portillo-Delgado, 65, of no fixed address, was located, arrested, and charged with simulated masturbation, trespassing, and drunk in public.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

SEX OFFENSE, 1400 block of Lake Fairfax Drive, 6/22/13, 4 p.m. Officers investigated an alleged sexual assault where a 26-year-old woman was inappropriately touched by an unknown man. Pedro Santos, 41, of Fairfax, was charged with sexual battery.

DROWNING, 10200 block of Eisenhower Lane, 6/23/13, 12:45 a.m. Police were called for a reported drowning in the pool of a private residence.  James D. Simmons, 43, of the Reston area, was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead. An investigation determined Simmons had been in the pool for several minutes when friends found him and began CPR. The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Medical Examiner. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

BURGLARY, 1500 block of Northgate Square, 6/24/13, 6:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole electronic equipment. There were no signs of forced entry.

Taxi Driver Robbed

ASSAULT, 6100 block of Franconia Road, 6/23/13, 2:20 a.m. Officers responded for a fight call. They located a 31-year-old man with multiple lacerations to the face. Allegedly, Ottoniel Arana Aguirre, 29, of Maryland, cut the victim with a bottle. Arana Aguirre was charged with malicious wounding and being drunk in public.

BURGLARY, 7200 block of Pine Drive, 6/24/13, 10 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and attempted to steal electronic equipment. Forced entry was made through a window.

SEX OFFENSE, 9500 block of Richmond Highway, 6/24/13, 10 p.m. An 18-year-old woman reported someone touched her buttocks and ran away. She was not injured.

PEEPING, 9200 block of Edgemar Woods Court, 6/25/13, 9:10 a.m. A 22-year-old reported someone was looking into her home. The suspect fled when she screamed.

ROBBERY, 8200 block of Getty Court, 6/20/13, 8:20 a.m. A 13-year-old boy was walking on a nearby path a week prior when two men approached, brandished a knife, and demanded his cell phone. The victim handed over his iTouch and was not injured. The suspects fled.

BURGLARY, 4700 block of Commons Drive, 6/26/13, 6:40 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include jewelry. Forced entry was made through the front door.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

MALTREAT ANINMAL, 4100 block of Monument Corner Drive, 6/22/13, 1:55 p.m. A citizen reported a dog left unattended in a vehicle. An Animal Control Officer confirmed the temperature was rising in the vehicle. The Minurature Poodle was not injured. The owner, Hyesook Lee, 43, of Centerville, was charged with inadequate care of an animal.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY/LARCENY, 12000 block of Golf Ridge Court, 6/21/13, 8:20 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole three puppies. Entry was made through a window.

ANIMAL BITE, 7200 block of Gormel Drive, 6/23/13, 3 p.m. Animal Control Officers responded for a dog bite. A 65-year-old man was walking in the street when a dog approached and bit him in the leg. He received minor injuries. The Beagle mix was routinely quarantined.
