ACTIVITIES REPORTED THROUGH July 2, 2013


This report is published every Friday. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the week before. Reports cover a time frame from the preceding Thursday through the next Wednesday.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Weekly Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

WEEKLY ARRESTS FOR SELECTED CHARGES

Domestic violence-related charges: 23

Illegal drug-related charges: 37

DWI-related charges: 51

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/28/13. Officers from the Sully Police District patrolled the district searching for drunk drivers. Four drivers were charged with DWI. Forty-two summonses and six warnings were issued. Two criminal arrests were made.

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/29/13. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Nineteen summonses were issued.

CHECKPOINT, Richmond Highway/Dawn Drive, 6/29/13. Officers conducted a DWI checkpoint searching for drunk drivers. Seven-hundred-ninety-six vehicles passed through. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Nine summonses were issued and one criminal arrest was made.

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/29/13. Officers from the Fair Oaks Police District patrolled the district searching for drunk drivers. Two drivers were charged with DWI. One summons was issued.

DIRECTED PATROL, 6/30/13. Officers from the Fair Oaks Police District patrolled the district searching for drunk drivers. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Ten summonses and 12 warnings were issued. One criminal arrest was made.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

BUSINESS CHECKS, 6/28/13. Officers from the Sully Station with members of the Department of Code Compliance, County Licensing, and the Fire Marshal’s Office inspected several massage businesses. Six ABC violations were cited. Fifteen fire code and 47 zoning violations were cited.

BURGLARY, 14500 block of Woodland Ridge Drive, 7/2/13, 6 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a laptop computer. There were no signs of forced entry.

PEEPING, 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue, 6/30/13, 1:10 a.m. A 30-year-old woman reported she saw an unknown man looking into her bedroom room. The suspect was not located.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, 12000 Greywing Square, 6/30/13, 3:30 p.m. A 19-year-old man was treated at the hospital for non life-threatening injuries. An investigation revealed he was assaulted and robbed by an acquaintance.

Man Charged in Attempted Robbery

ROBBERY, 11200 block of Harbor Court, 7/2/13, 1:45 a.m. A 21-year-old man was approached by three unknown men. One of the three produced a hand gun and demanded cash. The three suspects then fled with a cell phone and miscellaneous items. The victim was not injured.

LARCENY, 12100 block of Sunset Hills Road, 7/2/13, 7 p.m. Officers responded for a shoplifter who allegedly fled with merchandise from the store. Ryan Sheppard, 30, of Fairfax, was located nearby and charged with grand larceny, destruction of property, and possession of burglarious tools.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 7600 block of Dunston Street, 6/28/13, 11:15 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

NARCOTICS, 6400 block of Backlick Road, 6/29/13, 12:50 a.m. Officers spoke to three individuals. One of those individuals, Johann Auceda, 19, of Alexandria, was detained for a possible narcotics violation. Auceda ran from the officers and was caught a short distance away. Auceda was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, probation violations, and provide false information to avoid prosecuation.

BURGLARY, 7900 block of Backlick Road, 6/28/13, 9 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the mosque and stole cash. Forced entry was made through a door.

BURGLARY, 4500 block of Roberts Road, 6/28/13, 2:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items. Forced entry was made through the front door.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

ANIMAL LICENSE, 9800 block of Hagel Circle, 7/2/13, 11:40 a.m. A 19-year-old woman was walking when she was surprised by dog on a leash. The dog allegedly bit her. She received a minor injury. The owner, Margie Toney, 50, of Lorton, was charged with having an unlicensed dog and not having a current vaccination for the dog. The Pit Bull Terrier mix was routinely quarantined.

ANIMAL BITE, 4900 block of McFarland Drive, 7/2/13, 5:25 p.m. A 15-year-old boy was walking on the sidewalk when a Brittany Spaniel allegedly bit the boy on the leg. The victim received a minor injury. The dog was routinely quarantined.
