ACTIVITIES REPORTED THROUGH July 26, 2013


This report is published every Friday. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the week before. Reports cover a time frame from the preceding Thursday through the next Wednesday.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Weekly Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

WEEKLY ARRESTS FOR SELECTED CHARGES

Domestic violence-related charges: 30

Illegal drug-related charges: 60

DWI-related charges: 68

(These numbers are based on preliminary data which undergoes frequent modification and may not reconcile with year-end totals.)

TRUCK INSPECTIONS, 7600 block of Colshire Drive, 7/23/13. Officers stopped and inspected 20 trucks. Nine trucks were taken out of service. Forty-five total violations were found. Six vehicles passed with no violations and were issued safety stickers.

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

CHECKPOINT, Dranesville Road/Sugarland Road, 7/19/13. Officers conducted a DWI checkpoint searching for drunk drivers. Three-hundred-sixty-nine vehicles passed through. Three drivers were charged with DWI. Eight traffic and one criminal summonses were issued.

BUI CHECKPOINT, Pohick Bay, 7/21/13. Officers from the Marine Patrol Unit conducted a Boating Under the Influence Checkpoint. Eighteen vessels were checked. One BUI charge was made. Two Virginia Uniform Summonses and eight safety warnings were issued. Additionally, nine “I got caught wearing my life jacket” t-shirts were distributed.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

INDECENT EXPSURE, 5500 block of Sequoia Farms Drive, 7/19/13, 6:40 p.m. Two girls, ages 12 and 15, were walking at approximately 8:20 in the morning when they saw a man sitting in a car. The man was exposing himself. The girls continued to walk home.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

BRANDISHING/ASSAULT, 3400 block of Lockheed Boulevard, 7/18/13, 9:20 p.m. A 34-year-old man observed several juveniles with what appeared to be a handgun. He requested the gun. Allegedly, a 13-year-old boy brandished the handgun and other juveniles began to assault the victim. The victim received minor injuries. Five boys, ages 16, 15, 13, 12, and 12 were apprehended and turned over to their parents with charges pending. Another 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with mob assault, brandishing on school grounds, and trespassing.

ROBBERY, 6400 block of Richmond Highway, 7/19/13, 11:30 p.m. Two men, ages 22 and 29 heard a knock at the door. They were confronted by three men. One man brandished a handgun and demanded money. The suspects fled with cash and a cell phone. No one was injured.

ROBBERY, Buckman Road/Rolling Hills Avenue, 7/19/13, 11 p.m. A 47-year-old woman was walking when a man approached from behind and grabbed her purse. She was able to hold onto the purse. The suspect got a hold of her headphones and fled. She was not injured.

ROBBERY, 3300 block of Sparrow Drive, 7/19/13, 11:40 p.m. A 16-year-old boy was walking in the area when two men assaulted him and stole cash and a cell phone. The boy was not seriously injured.

BURGLARY, 3300 block of Southgate Drive, 7/21/13, 10:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. Forced entry was made through a side door.

FALSE REPORT, 6600 block of Wakefield Drive, 7/22/13, 11 p.m. Officers responded for an alleged carjacking. Following an investigation, Yeni Corea Reyes, 31, of Maryland, was charged with filing a false police report.

SHOPLIFTING, 6600 block of Richmond Highway, 7/23/13, 3:20 p.m. Officers were called for an individual who was allegedly attempting to steal televisions from the business. The individual ran as officers arrive. Following a short foot pursuit and investigation, William Morgan, 34, of Woodbridge, was charged with two counts of grand larceny.

BURGLARY, 6900 block of South Kings Highway, 7/23/13, 3:50 a.m. Officers responded for an alarm and found the front door of the business broken. It is unclear what was stolen.

BURGLARY, 8400 block of Camden Street, 7/24/13, 11 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home but nothing was stolen. Entry was made through an unsecured door.

OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE, Groveton Street/Harrison Lane, 7/24/13, 9:50 p.m. An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver fled on foot. Following an investigation, Jonathan Spratley, 22, of Unionville, VA., was charged with speeding, driving on a suspended license and obstruction of justice.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, W.O. & D Trail, 7/23/13, 6:10 p.m. A 31-year-old man was riding his bicycle on the trail when two men surprised him and demanded his property. The suspects fled with the man’s bicycle and jewelry. The victim was not injured.

SEX OFFENSE, 7900 block of Tysons Corner Center, 7/23/13, 12:50 p.m. A 15-year-old girl was in a changing room trying on clothes. A man, allegedly, was taking pictures of her in the changing room. Jesus Bonilla-Treminio, 23, of Maryland, was charged with unlawful filming.

BURGLARY, 2500 block of Gallows Road, 7/24/13, 1:40 a.m. Officers responded for an alarm and found a rear window broken. Nothing was stolen.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 4700 block of Southland Avenue, 7/18/13, 6:15 p.m. An employee reported someone entered a vacant apartment. Entry was made through an unlocked window.

BURGLARY, 7400 block of Camp Alger Avenue, 7/19/13, 7 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business. It is not clear if anything was stolen. Forced entry was made through a window.

LARCENY, 6200 block of Cheryl Drive, 7/20/13, 1:50 a.m. A resident reported two individuals allegedly attempted to enter his vehicle. Officers searched the area and located one individual. Francisco Perez, 26, of Falls Church, was charged with vehicle tampering, drunk in public, possession of fictitious identification and possession of burglarious tools.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 6000 block of Munson Hill Road, 7/20/13, 10:15 a.m. A resident allegedly observed a man exposing himself at the park. Shahid Bashir, 31, of Falls Church, was charged with simulated masturbation.

BURGLARY, 1400 block of Powells Tavern Place, 7/18/13, 10:45 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. Entry was made through an unlocked door.

ROBBERY, 2000 block of Durand Drive, 7/22/13, 9:15 p.m. A 52-year-old man was attempting to make a delivery. When he returned to his car, he was grabbed from behind by a man holding a knife. A second suspect demanded money. The fled with cash. The victim received minor injuries.

BURGLARY, 2200 block of Castle Rock Square, 7/23/13, 9:30 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include a television. Entry was made through an unsecured door.

PEEPING, 2000 block of Royal Fern Court, 7/24/13, 2:45 a.m. A 22-year-old woman was in her bedroom when she saw a man looking inside. The suspect fled.

SEX OFFENSE, Cherek Drive/Sebrell Street, 7/16/13, 7:25 p.m. A 27-year-old woman was walking with a stroller when a man approached and inappropriately touched her. He fled and she was not injured.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 6900 block of Bradlick Shopping Center, 7/22/13, 11:10 a.m. Officers were called for an individual allegedly exposing himself. William Tolley, 55, of no fixed address, was charged with indecent exposure.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 6700 block of Bulkley Road, 7/22/13, 1:40 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home but nothing was stolen. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

BURGLARY, 7400 block of Ardglass Drive, 7/24/13, 5:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a gaming system. There were no signs of forced entry.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 7200 block of Barry Road, 7/24/13, 5:45 a.m. Officers were called for lights on in a condemned home. There were signs that someone entered a home which no one should have entered.

BURGLARY, 7900 block of Charles Thompson Lane, 7/19/13, 1:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry.

ASSAULT, 7600 block of Southern Oak Drive, 7/20/13, 6 a.m. A 43-year-old man and a 49-year-old man entered into an argument. A fight broke out and allegedly the 43-year-old struck the 49-year-old with a stick. The 49-year-old allegedly shot the 43-year-old. Both individuals were transported with non life-threatening injuries. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY, 6200 block of Rathlin Drive, 7/21/13, 8:30 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through the front door.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 9500 block of Main Street, 7/21/13, 3 a.m. Officers responded for a school alarm and located two individuals exiting the building. Alexander Chou, 20, of Annandale, and Dong Kim, 21, of Fairfax, were each charged with unlawful entry.

ANIMAL BITE, 7200 block of Tyler Avenue, 7/18/13, 11:50 a.m. A 30-year-old woman was bitten by a dog when she walked out to her sidewalk. The Jack Russell Terrier mix was running at large and allegedly bit the victim. The victim received a minor injury. The dog was routinely quarantined.
