ACTIVITIES REPORTED THROUGH August 2, 2013


This report is published every Friday. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the week before. Reports cover a time frame from the preceding Thursday through the next Wednesday.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Note: Information contained in the Weekly Activity Report is generally based on initial reports made to the police department. Follow-up investigations may reveal additional information. Also, this report is not a comprehensive list of every police event in Fairfax County in the stated time frame.

WEEKLY ARRESTS FOR SELECTED CHARGES

Illegal drug-related charges: 76

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

DIRECTED PATROL, 7/26/13. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. One driver was charged with DWI. Twelve summonses and 3 warnings were issued.

CHECKPOINT, Franconia-Springfield Parkway/Spring Valley Drive, 7/27/13. Officers conducted a DWI checkpoint searching for drunk drivers. Seven-hundred-twenty-nine vehicles passed through. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Four summonses were issued and one criminal arrest was made.

Motorcyclist Dies in Clifton-Area Crash

BURGLARY, 4300 block of Poplar Tree Court, 7/29/13, 11:50 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through the front door.

Fatal Crash in Hybla Valley Area

Bank Robbery in the Hybla Valley Area

BURGLARY, 7600 block of Richmond Highway, 7/29/13, 3:45 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole cash. Forced entry was made through the front door.

BURGLARY, 5800 block of Wyomissing Court, 7/29/13, 5 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include a television. There were no signs of forced entry.

ROBBERY, 8600 block of Richmond Highway, 7/29/13, 6:30 p.m. Three young men were approached by a man who allegedly demanded money. The victims attempted to back away and one victim was struck in the face. Following an investigation, David Bibby, 25, of no fixed address, was charged with malicious wounding and three counts of robbery.

BURGLARY, 2700 block of Dawn Drive, 7/30/13, 5:40 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. Entry was made through a rear window.

BURGLARY, 7200 block of Harrison Lane, 7/30/13, 1:35 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a television. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

BURGLARY, 6600 block of 10th Street, 7/31/13, 9:30 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry.

BURGLARY, 1800 block of Pimmit Drive, 7/27/13, 12:45 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home but nothing was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry.

ROBBERY, 2900 block of Annandale Road, 7/29/13, 3:10 p.m. A 41-year-old man was making arrangements to buy a laptop computer. The suspect demanded cash and threatened the victim then fled. The victim was not injured.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 7600 block of Colshire Drive, 7/29/13, 9:05 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business but nothing was stolen. Forced entry was made through a window.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

FALSE REPORT, 6000 block of Vista Drive, 7/28/13, 12:05 a.m. Officers were called for an alleged sex offense. Following an investigation, Shaunta McCoy, 36, of no fixed address, was charged with filing a false police report.

STOLEN AUTO, 7400 block of Parkwood Court, 7/28/13, 4:45 a.m. A resident reported her 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse was stolen. The vehicle pulled into the lot while the officer was taking the report. Following an investigation, Marvin Guevara, 22, of Fairfax, was charged with auto theft.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

LARCENY, North Shore Drive/Village Road, 7/27/13, 12:10 p.m. A 17-year-old boy allegedly stole a tip jar. Several citizens assisted in detaining him until officers arrived. He was charged with grand larceny.

BURGLARY, 11500 block of Leesburg Pike, 7/29/13, 1:50 a.m. Officers were called for an alarm and found a glass door shattered. Cash and cigarettes were stolen. No suspect was found.

ROBBERY, 2300 block of Hunters Woods Plaza, 7/29/13, 8:50 p.m. A 29-year-old man was driving a taxi when his customer asked to pull over. The customer then demanded the driver’s cash. The suspect fled with the cash. The victim was not injured.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 11300 block of Harborside Cluster, 7/30/13, 12:35 p.m. A 42-year-old woman had several workers at the home. One of the individuals exposed himself before the work was completed. The case is under investigation.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

SEX OFFENSE, 6200 block of Hanover Avenue, 7/25/13, 10:45 a.m. A 25-year-old woman was walking when a man approached and inappropriately touched her. He fled and she was not injured.

BUSINESS CHECKS, 7/28/13. Officers from the Franconia Station with members of the Department of Code Compliance, County Licensing, and the Fire Marshal’s Office inspected several massage businesses. No ABC violations were cited. Sixteen fire code and six zoning violations were cited. Additionally, 72 property maintenance and 15 unpermitted violations were cited.

ASSAULT, 6200 block of Alforth Avenue, 7/29/13, 3:15 p.m. A 16-year-old was walking with her mother when an unknown man grabbed her. The women screamed and the man fled. The girl was not injured.

BURGLARY, 5800 block of Kingstowne Center, 7/29/13, 11 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole cash. Forced entry was made through the front door.

BURGLARY, 7600 block of Whitly Way, 7/29/13, 4:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include a gaming system. Forced entry was made through a window.

BURGLARY, 7400 block of Essex Avenue, 7/29/13, 7:40 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. Forced entry was made through a rear window.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, 8400 block of Bayberry Ridge Road, 7/28/13, 10:15 p.m. A 44-year-old woman was walking when a teenaged boy approached. He grabbed her cell phone and she screamed. He fled without taking anything. She was not injured.

BURGLARY, 4600 block of John Tyler Court, 7/30/13, 9 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry.

TRESPASSING, 5000 block of Sideburn Road, 7/31/13, 12:25 a.m. Officers responded for an alarm and found several individuals on the building. Five individuals were charged with trespassing at a school. They were, Andrew Sanchez, 18, of Fairfax, Corrine Frigault, 18, of Fairfax, Kristian Nishanian, 18, of Clifton, Patrick Flores, 18, of Burke, and a 17-year-old boy from Fairfax. The 17-year-old boy and Frigault were also charged with illegal possession of alcohol.

ASSAULT, 5500 block of Kings Park Drive, 7/31/13, 3 p.m. A 17-year-old was walking in the area the day before when an unknown man approached her from behind. The man inappropriately touched her fled. She was not injured.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

Bomb Threat Suspect Arrested

PEEPING, 4700 block of Quiet Woods Lane, 7/26/13, 5 a.m. A 50-year-old man reported someone looking into his home. The man fled prior to police arrival.

ROBBERY, 2900 block of Chain Bridge Road, 7/26/13, 9 a.m. A man was seen walking out of an office allegedly carrying wallets belonging to employees. He was challenged and fled after pushing a 38-year-old woman. Quentin Findley, 54, of Alexandria, was charged with robbery and two counts of obtaining credit cards. The victim was transported with minor injuries.

ASSAULT, 11600 block of Monument Drive, 7/28/13, 3:05 a.m. Two 18-year-old men were walking when two other men approached and initiated a fight. One of the 18-year-olds was treated at the hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The two suspects fled.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

Animal Shelter Temporarily Suspends Intake of Dogs

MALTREAT ANIMAL, 5800 block of Kingstowne Boulevard, 7/26/13, 2:15 p.m. An Animal Control Officer was called for a dog left unattended in a vehicle. The owner, Marsh Banks, 50, of Maryland, was charged with providing inadequate care of an animal. The Yorkshire Terrier did not appear injured.

ANIMAL BITE, 5700 block of Twin Pine Court, 7/31/13, 7:15 p.m. A 47-year-old woman was bitten by a cat in the neighborhood. The woman was not seriously injured. The gray cat with a white chest is running loose in the area. The case is under investigation.
