ACTIVITIES REPORTED THROUGH August 21, 2013


This report is published every Friday. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents from the week before. Reports cover a time frame from the preceding Thursday through the next Wednesday.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by district station. If a section has no reported incident, that section will not be shown. Addresses shown indicate blocks and not specific locations.

Police Undercover Operation Nets 23 Men

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

CHECKPOINT, Dranesville Road/Sugarland Road, 8/16/13. Officers conducted a DWI checkpoint searching for drunk drivers. Four-hundred-twelve vehicles passed through. Three drivers were charged with DWI. Nine summonses were issued and one criminal arrest was made.

DIRECTED PATROL, 8/16/13. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. Two drivers were charged with DWI. Eighteen summonses and 14 warnings were issued.

DIRECTED PATROL, 8/17/13. Officers from the Operations Support Bureau patrolled the county searching for drunk drivers. One driver was charged with DWI. Eleven summonses and seven warnings were issued.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY, 5900 block of Fort Drive, 8/17/13, 4 p.m. A 29-year-old man was walking when two men engaged him in conversation. They walked together into the woods when a third joined. The three men assaulted the victim and fled with his wallet. He sustained non life-threatening injuries.

BURGLARY, 13600 block of Bent Tree Circle, 8/18/13, 10:50 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 4500 block of Wyres Street, 8/16/13, 8 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several electronic items. There were no signs of forced entry.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 8400 block of Fort Hunt Road, 8/18/13, 11:10 p.m. Officers responded for an alarm. A damaged door and two juvenile boys were located. Charges are pending.

BURGLARY, 7700 block of Richmond Highway, 8/21/13, 7:25 p.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and stole the cash register. There were no signs of forced entry.

BURGLARY, 6200 block of Old Dominion Drive, 8/16/13, 7:35 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole tools. Forced entry was made through the front door.

Police Investigate Vehicle-Related Fatality

TRESPASSING, 6900 block of Birch Street, 8/19/13, noon. A resident reported someone entered their 1998 Honda Civic but nothing was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry.

Man Dies in Construction Accident

BURGLARY, 8100 block of Quinn Terrace, 8/20/13, 2:45 a.m. A resident reported someone entered her home but nothing was stolen. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

BURGLARY, 2600 block of Walters Glen Way, 8/19/13, 9:05 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include a camera. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 6700 block of Valley Brook Drive, 8/16/13, 7:45 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include jewelry. Forced entry was made through a door.

ASSAULT, 7100 block of Columbia Pike, 8/17/13, 2:15 a.m. Three men were standing near their vehicle when two men approached. The two men assaulted the three victims and fled. The victims received minor injuries.

PURSUIT/NARCOTICS, Barcroft Mews Court/Barcroft Mews Drive, 8/19/13, 2:05 a.m. Officers assisted Virginia State Police officers and Metropolitan Police officers pursuing a vehicle on I495 near Little River Turnpike. Following the vehicle and a short foot pursuit, the driver was apprehended. James Judy, 45, of Winchester, was charged by Fairfax County officers with possession of stolen property, cocaine, and marijuana, and resisting arrest.

PURSUIT, Glen Forest Drive/Leesburg Pike, 8/20/13, 12:20 a.m. An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Crossroads Shopping Center. The vehicle allegedly sped away. Officers pursued and the vehicle crashed on Patrick Henry Drive near Leesburg Pike. No one was injured. The 17-year-old male driver was taken into custody and charged with DWI and driving while revoked. Additional charges are pending.

BRANDISHING, 3300 block of Glen Carlyn Drive, 8/21/13, 12:25 p.m. A 41-year-old man entered into a verbal discussion with another man. The suspect, described as black, approximately 60-year-old, pointed a handgun at the victim. The suspect fled and no one was injured.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 11300 block of Baron Cameron Avenue, 8/18/13, 7:30 a.m. Two women were walking their dogs when they saw a man exposing himself. They turned and walked away. The suspect was not located.

BURGLARY, 11000 block of Becontree Lake Drive, 8/18/13, 9:25 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a cell phone. Forced entry was made through a window.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 11400 block of South Lakes Drive, 8/18/13, 9:35 p.m. Officers responded for an alarm and allegedly located someone inside. Michael Masihenazare, 26, of Reston, was charged with unlawful entry.

BURGLARY, 1400 block of Northgate Square, 8/20/13, 9:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole a cell phone. Forced entry was made through a window.

Progress Made in Robbery Investigations

ROBBERY, Bluemont Way/Discovery Street, 8/21/13, 1:15 a.m. A 21-year-old man was walking home when a man appeared and demanded the victim’s wallet. A struggle ensued and the victim struck the suspect. The victim was not injured and nothing was stolen.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

PURSUIT, 7300 block of Gresham Street, 7 a.m. An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near Heming Avenue and Elgar Street. The driver allegedly sped away. The vehicle crashed and the driver and passenger were detained. The driver, a 16-year-old Springfield boy, was charged with disregarding a stop sign and illegal possession of alcohol. Additional charges are pending. The passenger, a 15-year-old Springfield boy, was charged with illegal possession of alcohol.

BURGLARY, 5300 block of Jennifer Drive, 8/17/13, 7:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole several items to include jewelry. Forced entry was made through a window.

BURGLARY, 8900 block of Ox Road, 8/18/13, 6:10 a.m. An officer saw the front door to a business smashed out. Following an investigation, there was evidence someone entered the business, but nothing was stolen.

TRESPASSING, 700 block of Marshall Road, 8/18/13, 6:35 a.m. Officers were called for a man on school property. Joshua Evans, 28, of Washington, D.C., was located and charged with trespassing.
