Police Investigate Armed Robbery in Springfield

            An 18-year-old Manassas man, working at the Central Newstand at Springfield Mall Square, 6701 Loisdale Road, was robbed at gunpoint. A man entered the store shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. He approached the clerk and displayed what appeared to be the handle of a gun. The suspect demanded money and the victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and was not injured. The suspect fled on foot, running east on Spring Mall Road in the direction of Frontier Drive. The police helicopter and a K-9 team responded to search the area.

            The suspect was described as black, in his 30s. He was approximately 6 feet tall and weighed about 170 pounds. He had black hair, brown eyes and was clean shaven. He was wearing a burgundy T-shirt and blue jeans.
