Mount Vernon Police District Steps Up Graduation Weekend Patrols
Graduating seniors, their friends and all others are encouraged to celebrate safely in Fairfax County this weekend. Beginning Friday, June 13 through Saturday June 21, officers from the Mount Vernon Police District will be taking additional steps to ensure that the roads are as safe as possible during this “celebratory” time period.
During Operation Graduation DWI, there will be additional patrols assigned to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers. There will be sobriety checkpoints and mobile signs posted with DWI messages throughout the Mount Vernon Police District.
Motorists stopped for suspicion of driving while intoxicated will undergo a field interview to assure that their abilities to drive have not been impaired by alcohol or drugs.
The Fairfax County Police Department takes the issue of impaired driving very seriously. This effort combined with ongoing DWI enforcement initiatives throughout the year, are designed to prevent alcohol-related crashes and keep the roadways safe.
