Robbery in Springfield

A 55-year-old woman from Beltsville, Maryland was robbed while working in the Dong Nam Market at 7040 Brookfield Plaza. A man entered the store at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, produced a handgun and demanded money. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and was not injured. The suspect fled on foot.

The suspect was described as possibly being Asian, in his late 20s. He was about 5 feet 7 inches tall and approximately 145 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and a black mask covering his face.

Detectives are investigating the possibility that this robbery is related to two previous robberies; both of which occurred at Asian markets. One on December 20 and the other on December 21.
