Armed Robbery in Springfield
A 45-year-old Springfield man was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday, January 24 shortly after 10 p.m. The man parked his car and began walking to his townhouse in the 7700 block of Tiverton Drive. Another man approached him from behind, placed a cold, metal object at the back of his head and demanded money. The victim initially resisted and the suspect struck him in the head with a handgun, knocking him to the ground. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and was transported to Inova Healthplex Franconia Springfield, with non life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled east on foot and may have gotten into a vehicle of unknown description.
The suspect was described as black, in his 20’s, approximately 6 feet tall and about 160 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and a black baseball cap.
