Police Arrest Two for Burglary in Burke Area
Two men were arrested shortly after midnight on Thursday, January 29 for allegedly breaking into two homes just a few hours before. Around midnight, a man heard someone inside his home in the 5400 block of Helm Court but the intruder fled when the man’s dogs started barking. Police responded and a Fairfax County Police helicopter located a suspicious vehicle parked nearby. As they approached, the vehicle drove off toward Grovewood Way and Berrywood Court. There, the car stopped and the two occupants inside, Dustin Drake and Jacob Cover, fled on foot but were apprehended.
Further investigation in the area revealed that a house in the 5200 block of Windsor Hills Drive had been broken into and two game systems were stolen some time between 10:30 p.m. and midnight. The stolen property was located inside the suspects’ vehicle and the car was consequently seized by police for transporting stolen property.
Drake, 20, of 5834 Wood Poppy Court, and Cover, 20, of 5473 Safe Harbor Court, both in Burke, were transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where they were both charged with one count of burglary and grand larceny. Cover was additionally charged with resisting arrest and destruction of property.
