Five Charged for Series of Burglaries

in Saratoga Area 

            Four teenagers and one adult face 36 criminal charges for a burglary spree in the Saratoga area. Officers from the West Springfield station have charged four teenage boys and one man with allegedly breaking into seven homes during November and December of 2008 and stealing game systems, electronics, cash and more.

            After a three-month investigation, detectives and other officers were able to place 34 felony charges and two misdemeanor charges against two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old from Springfield, a 17-year-old of no fixed address and the adult. The 15-year-olds were arrested on Tuesday, December 9 in their homes and transported to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center. They were each charged with four counts of burglary and five counts of grand larceny.

            The 17-year-old was arrested on Thursday, December 18 near Rockshire Street and Rockshire Court. He was transported to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with five counts of burglary and seven counts of grand larceny. He was also served with an outstanding detention order for a prior, unrelated charge.

            The 16-year-old was arrested on Friday, January 9 in his home and transported to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center where he was charged with one count each of burglary, grand larceny and a receiving stolen property.

            Warrants have been obtained for the adult for burglary, grand larceny and destruction of property.
