Arrest Made in Fraudulent Document Case

A 38-year-old woman was arrested as she attempted to obtain a voucher to pay for Section 8, subsidized housing using fraudulent documents.

An investigation was launched in October of 2008 when the suspected documents came to the attention of the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development. A representative from that agency contacted a detective in the police department’s Criminal Intelligence Division. The documents were examined thoroughly and found to be counterfeit.

On Monday, February 9, the suspect in this case was scheduled to pick up a housing voucher valued at approximately $1,100. When she arrived, detectives were waiting for her.

Janet M. Mudavadi, of 4944 Carriage Park Road in Fairfax was taken into custody and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. She was charged with attempted false pretense and possession of a fictitious document.
