Sexual Assault in Lorton

On Friday, March 20, police were contacted to investigate an alleged sexual assault that occurred sometime between Sunday, February 1 and Saturday, February 14. The victim, a female student at Gunston Elementary School was reportedly touched inappropriately by an adult man in her home. The suspect was providing tutoring lessons to the student when the assault took place. The victim did not require medical treatment.

The suspect, Rodney Bower, 54, of 2429 Temple Court in Alexandria, is a teacher at Gunston Elementary School. He turned himself in to detectives on Monday, March 23. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with aggravated sexual battery.

The investigation is ongoing.
