Middle School Students Arrested for Gang Recruitment
Seven teenagers were charged with 18 gang-related crimes on Wednesday, March 18. In December 2008, a student at Franklin Middle School, located at 3300 Lees Corner Road, reported to the School Resource Officer that another student asked him to join a gang. The incident kicked off a three-month investigation that led to the arrest of seven Chantilly teenagers for alleged involvement in gang participation and recruitment in the area. The breakdown of charges is as follows:

- 16-year-old: Gang recruitment and gang participation; held at Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC).
- 14-year-old: Destruction of property, gang recruitment and two counts of gang participation; held at JDC.
- 14-year-old: Gang recruitment and gang participation; held at JDC.
- 14-year-old: Gang recruitment and gang participation; released to parents.
- 14-year-old: Gang recruitment, destruction of property and two counts of gang participation; released to parents.
- 13-year-old: Gang recruitment and gang participation; released to parents.
- 13-year-old: Destruction of property and gang participation; released to parents.
