Business Compliance Checks in Fair Oaks District
On Wednesday, April 15, officers from the Fair Oaks District Station along with a member of the Traffic Safety Services Unit conducted stings at several locations in the Fair Oaks area of Fairfax County. The sting was part of the ongoing Youth Alcohol/Business Compliance enforcement campaign which was conducted using county police cadets dressed in plain clothing to purchase alcohol. The cadets entered stores and attempted to purchase alcohol. If asked whether they were 21 years old, the cadets were to respond with their true age and/or date of birth. If asked for identification, they were to tell the clerk that they had no identification with them. If the sale of alcohol took place, the plain-clothed officer would take possession of the alcohol from the cadets and make the appropriate charge(s), along with the assistance of the uniformed officer assigned to the team.
As a result of this operation, twenty-three locations were entered. Two arrests were made for the illegal sale of alcohol at the Shopper’s Food Warehouse at 13920 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway in Chantilly.
The stings were conducted using one team consisting of one plain-clothed officer, one uniformed officer and one cadet.
