Come Fishing with FCPD Detectives…For Auto Thieves

            With a 48 percent increase in larcenies from autos and 1,288 vehicles stolen in 2008, the Fairfax County Police Department wants thieves to know they’re being watched. The Bait Car program is one tool in the FCPD tackle box that detectives are using to hook thieves targeting vehicles.

            Join detectives as they deploy a bait car, at an undisclosed location, somewhere in Fairfax County.

What: Bait Car Deployment

When: 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 29

Where: Meet PIO and Bait Car coordinator/detective at the Massey

              Building, 4100 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax City

            Car theft losses impact everyone. Bait car programs are used in police agencies across the nation, and now are proving to be an effective tool in fending off larcenies from vehicles as well as auto thefts.
